Cask gravity at Kent BF 2010. Lovely aroma of fresh raspberry doesn’t continue into the flavour where the fruit and the golden ale do battle for sweetness and dryness at the same time.

Ethereal (2399) - Los Angeles, California, USA - MAY 2, 2010
Cask at the Rake, 28th April 2010. Clear orange with a line of head. Raspberry aroma. In the mouth, the sweet raspberries are balanced by a dry hop flavour. Definitely one for the sweeter toothed. Pretty quick finish. Overall a bit of a novelty beer but Saltaire have done a good job on something that could be hideous.

wimpyjoe (1742) - Manchester, Greater Manchester, ENGLAND - JAN 12, 2013
Mostly clear but slightly clouded yellow coloured ale, no head so looks a bit flat. It has a huge sweet raspberry aroma and this is obviously carried through to the taste, but not to the same extent, still it remains fruity. The most striking part of its character is its weak thin body.

Bottle@Home. Artificial aroma but not too bad. Surprising blond, white head, good lace. Sweetish, raspberry, light bitter. Quite balanced and not really artificial. Not bad actually.

Cask at Cloisters. Golden with a very thin white head. Big raspberry nose. Immediate palate is of a standard cask gold ale. Subsides to a quite nice raspberry afterthought with a lingering tang. quite nice.

Cask in the market porter. Alround rating: Pale thin malt character, loads of raspberry but its not real raspberry as theres no colour and it taste fairly artifical, grassy and noteably bitter which doesnt suit a fruit beer. Drinkable all the same.

(Cask at The Rake, Southwark, London, 22 May 2009) Golden colour with frothy, white head. Fruity nose with lots of raspberries and notes of citrus and biscuity malt. Fruity taste with raspberries, biscuity malt, grass and a touch of citrus. Light body and fairly dry. It’s a bit weird but it works quite fine.

rauchbier (3409) - Isle Of Beer, Lincolnshire, ENGLAND - NOV 25, 2011
Bottle, from Morrisons, Scunthorpe. Gold, thin shortlived white head and gentle condition. Dominant raspberry fruitiness in the nose that strangely becomes very soft and muted in the mouth, its still there but allows the sweet maltiness to create a delicately pleasing mouthfeel, finish is again muted but a gentle sweet raspberry note lingers.

On handpull, pours a clear amber/gold. A strong raspberry syrup-like aroma. The raspberry is more subtle in the flavour, with a reasonable malt presense, and a light mouthfeel.

downender (5275) - Bristol, Gloucestershire, ENGLAND - MAR 13, 2010
Cask-conditioned at the Bag O’Nails, Bristol 13/03/10. Deep gold with a slight white head. Slightly tart raspberry aroma, followed by flavours of biscuit malt and berry fruit. Finish was fairly dry. A decent fruit beer which avoided being too sweet.
