3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Cask at Oliver Twist, Stockholm. Hazy amber appearance with a large creamy white foam. Strong spicy aroma of ginger, cinnamon and licorice with grassy hop notes. Fairly light-bodied with a strong spicy presence in the flavour of cinnamon, white pepper, cardamom and orange-peels. Dryish and quite hoppy finish of oily grassy hops with sweet undertones of ginger and cinnamon.

A Mes rate: Gravicask at Pigs Ear.
Nice copper colour with no head. Aroma is dominated by orange and nutmeg with some cinnamon and other spicy notes. Flavour is actually reasonably tasy. Lots of spice again, the nutmeg is so hardcore its like a smack in the mouth. Some citruc and flowery hops. There is some interesting character in here but sadly it is way over the top and almost undrinkable.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
UPDATED: DEC 22, 2007 The Bull at Witherley, en route to Church (End). Red and blanketed with cream foam. Background hop mustiness wrestling with perfumey spice in the nose. And losing. Full-on smothering orange, clove, ginger and cinnamon. Unsubtly soapy mulled flavour almost completely drowning the hops, but some sneaking through in a bitter finish. A trace of balance, but not a lot. All in all like drinking a scented candle.

Cask at Pig’s Ear BF.
The beer id dominated by nutmeg, but there is some cinnamon, too. The spices should have been more subtle than this, it is hard to get a feeling of the beer as such.
