Cask conditioned at Far from the Madding Crowd, Oxford. Amber to brown with white head. Darkly roasted grainy taste, a little like burnt cocoa husk with a dry bitterness and a late flowery hop note. Reasonable and a little unusual.

Cask in the market porter. Alround rating: Honey pale malts, nuttyness coming through, grassy floral hop, fairly dry. Not bad.

Cask handpull at The Market Porter. I got the last half out of the barrel, so a bit hard to say. Hazy old gold, lasting thick cream. Quite heavy on the rye, good woody taste. No condition. OK, should be quite interesting when in good nick.

A Mes rate: gravicask at Battersea Beer Festival
Slightly hazy golden brown with no head and slight condition. Fruity and very green. Decent malt and hop balance and a pleasant bitter finish. Straight forward but ok. Like Mark, I couldn’t detect any rye.

maeib (8579) - Wootton, Northampton, Northamptonshire, ENGLAND - NOV 30, 2008
Cask conditioned - handpump - Malt Shovel Northampton A copper bronze coloured beer with a thin white head. Some toasty wheaty notes in the nose which follows through to the otherwise clean and drinkable mouth. No discernible rye notes if indeed there’s rye in there.
