[Waterloo Beer Festival, Liverpool, 2014] - Saltaire Stateside IPA, 6%, bernsteinfarben klar. Bitter florales Aroma, krautige Noten. Recht voll, kaum wässrig. Im Antrunk krautig, mit Grapefruit. Zur Mitte sehr blumig, mit einer bitteren medizinischen Note im Hintergrund. Abgang sehr bitter, hopfenbestimmt. Nachhall sowohl fruchtig als auch bitter. Nachhall deutlich hopfenbitter.

Bottle 50cl. Amber with an off white head which quickly disappeared, typicial english. Malty nose (surprisingly for an IPA). Nice taste where the hops are more present. Bitterness in combination with a nice body makes this beer easy to drink. Finish is rather short, but the bitterness sticks for quite a while. Not bad.

(cask) clear deep golden colour with a frothy off-white head. aroma of straw and turkish delight, with a light hint of dandelions, frankincense and yeast. flavour is mostly caramel and peaches, slightly alcoholic, with some herbal hops, more dandelions and a light-bitter finish. medium- to heavy-bodied with soft carbonation.

Cask, The King’s Head, Leicester. Amber brown with a bubbly off white foam. Aromas are toffee with brown sugar and mixed citrus rind. Bready cookie dough yeast with earthy apple. Spiced black tea with floral aspects. Flavours are sweet, grainy malts with bittersweet grapefruit and resinous citrus rind. Dry tea with a peppery finish. Decent.

ALLOVATE (2592) - Perth, AUSTRALIA - JUL 28, 2014
Lustrous and radiant in the glass. A fiery, orange copper with only a few minute bubbles releasing to atmosphere here and there. Head is initially up but recedes back to a messy, sudsy foam that mucks up the glass in its wake. Resiny, camphorous, weedy, dried mown grass with licks of pear drop, lemon myrtle and chamomile - strange.Sweet, honeyish start hits a wall of buttery, diacetyl in the mid-palate before a burnt sugar, matchstick, piney back end. Moderate bitterness here but nothing I would say is hop related. Almost phenolic instead. Dusty and oaten, biscuit malt come across as cereal-like. Bready and yeasty predominantly. Burnt rubber comes through late. Confusing, but not far from a very sessionable ale. (50cL, The Liquor Shed, Jandakot)

Keg at Mother Kelly. It pours clear amber with a small white head. The nose is earthy, leather, juicy resin, wood and orange peel. The taste is bitter-sweet, orange peel, muffin, pine, resin, leather, touch of alcohol and brown bread with a lingering bitter finish. Medium body, fine carbonation and slightly sticky mouth-feel. Decent.
