Bottle. Dark brown body with a medium beige head. Aroma has lots of cocoa powder and dark chocolate. Taste has a nice balance of roastiness, sourish hop bite and cocoa sweetness. Doesn’t get cloying like many chocolate beers tend to, so it’s decent. This must be the first bottle with a QR code on it that I’ve seen.

Bottle, 10C. Black with a modest beige head. Aroma of chocolate, brioche, spices. On the light side of medium bodied, lowish carbonation. Not all that sweet, certainly dominated by chocolate, really set off nicely with a spiced and slightly astringent bitter finish.

Bottle from Voldby shared with Niller - dark brown verging black coloured pour with a brown head. Roasted malty aroma and taste, prominent big chocolate and cocoa on the palate, light vanilla nuance, lovely smooth velvety mouthfeel, pretty sweet overall but like this allot. Great drop.

500ml bottle. Finally got around to drinking this after sitting on my beer shelf for way too long. Dusty cocoa aroma throughout, pours black, with bitter brown leaves, roasted elements and a touch of chocolate malts but not as much as I expected. Smooth, slightly carbonated mouthfeel. Not a bad stout, but improved greatly by the Cadbury Dairy Milk I had with it!

milk chocolate aroma and quite a lot of chocolate flavour. Not my favourite though.

GoufCustom (750) - HONG KONG - MAY 1, 2014

500 ml bottle bought at Chocolat-ier’s promotion booth in Metropolis Plaza, Sheung Shui.

Looks: Clear, deep blackish brown colour; One finger head and crumpety beige foam which last for 1 minute; Good sticky lacing and slight carbonation.

Aroma: Fragrant rich chocolate, hot chocolate, chocolate syrup, toffee, caramel, cream, sugar, malt, faint coffee and faint grass.

Taste: Mid-to-light sweet dark roasted malt, with rich cocoa, smoke, black coffee, light sugar, light cream, light toffee, tart notes, lime, strong bitter hops and strong grass.

Body: Mid to light body, slightly slick and quite creamy palate.

Mouth Feel: A strong-tasting stout, very roasty and smoky; The chocolate elements is manifested as pretty nice cocoa with matching black coffee and light toffee. Fairly low sweetness. The oats landed some light smooth palate. So far so good!

Hoppiness: Faint grass aroma, good lime and strong grassy taste. Very solid bitterness for a bright, tasty and lasting bitter finish.

After Taste: Quite dry. Bitter and quite creamy to mouth.

Comments: This is quite an interesting stout. Despite all those chocolately adjucts listed on the label, the sweetness is only for the aroma. Its taste is rock solid roasty smoky maltyness, rich cocoa, moderate oat smoothness, low sweetness, and strong Fuggle hoppiness. A bit more expensive than most Stouts, but also worthy for repeated purchase. I like it!

Bottle. Very dark, almost black with a slight ruby tinge. A small beige head with tight bubbles. Aroma- lots and lots of milky chocolate, some cocoa, malty. Taste- initial hit of chocolate, some hop bitterness, smooth and creamy, lovely mouthfeel, the chocolate keeps on coming, a dry cocoa powder finish with some lingering bitterness. Very tasty stout.
