3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 lusikka (4124) - Tampere, FINLAND - MAY 17, 2013
500 ml bottle.
Pours a black colour with a creamy off-white head. Aroma is rather strong with dry wood, biscuit, malts and chocolate. Flavour of roasted malts, cream, tiramisu, dark chocolate, grassy hops and coffee. Medium bodied, slick mouthfeel and a strong, roasty, bitter and chocolate finish. What a surprise. Really well balanced and a rather heavy stuff for a 4.8% ABV beer.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 laiti (4016) - Tampere, FINLAND - MAY 17, 2013
50 cl bottle @ home, BBE 12/2013
Aroma is rather nice with lots of semi‐dark chocolate, cocoa, some coffee, cereal, hints of hay and vanilla. Flavour has dark chocolate, some ash and coffee notes. Very nice stuff for this ABV. The finish is too strong on hops though.
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 garthicus (2358) - Dublin, IRELAND - MAY 13, 2013
Thanks to my brother Brendan for the bottle. Appearance: Jet black, motor oil, thin but lasting mocha head. Aroma: metallic malt, making way for a ton of rich milk chocolate, a little leather and smoke, overall very rich (with the underlying copper/metallicness) quite nice. Flavour: Milky mouthfeel with a zingy metallic flavour, it immediately mellows out to a smooth mochachino, smoky with a lovely cocoa finish. Lovely.

Cask at The Stanhope on Gloucester Road/London. Pours very dark brown with a tan head and orange? glints. Strong chocolate aroma. Med body. It’s really, really smooth and the flavor is not very bitter chocolate. Delicious. Dessert ale!
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 jd543 (153) - SCOTLAND - APR 12, 2013
Black beer with a thin foamy off-white head. Aroma is mostley chocolate and a tiny hint of brea. Taste is chocolate and a tiny hint of coffee. Essentially tastes like a chocolate milkshake - tastes good but not neccessarily what I want in a beer.

50 cl. Bottle split @ Delirium Hoppy Loft. Pours blackish – bit hard to see with the lighting here – with a creamy big bubbly mocha head. Nose reminds me of Rogue Double Chocolate, lots of sweet chocolate syrup, cheaper but yummy chocolates, creamy coffee,… Smell beets taste which is a bit more tuned down / mellower less thick chocolate syrup still dominates, lighter grass bitter flourishes in the back, UK hops, cheaper sweet chocolate, light malts, touch fudge and saccharine,… Lighter body but still quite syrupy for the ABV. Not much surprise that they used chocolate syrup in here which for me in this case feels a bit like a shortcut but I do like the taste so…
