cask at Harlequin, Sheffield
brewed with chocolate, chocolate syrup and chocolate malt. Absolutely superb, smooth, roasty stout. almost black with slight ruby edge, pale long lasting head, massive chocolate aroma, leading to smooth dark chocolate taste while still retaining roasted barley flavour. aftertaste is pure chocolate

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Strong aroma, especially sweet chocolate. A very rich and creamy texture. Certainly sweet but does have a very luxurious chocolatey taste. Finish has a light bitterness. A sipper.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
500mL bottle BBE: 05/2016. Lightly chilled (approx. 12 degrees). Pours near enough black, with negligible light penetration. A medium sandy brown head forms when poured, but quickly recedes to a thin ring. High intensity nose, with chocolate milk, creamy milk chocolate, banana milkshake and hazelnut. A medium sweetness is not quite balanced by a light bitterness on the tongue. A full body carries a smooth, creamy texture; carbonation is medium-low, and the chocolatey finish lingers. Completely one-dimensional, but enjoyable nonetheless.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Cask at WHOAF 2015. It pours jet black with a small-medium light tan head. The nose is soft, sweet, milk chocolate cake, light tangy malt, cocoa powder and chocolate ice-cream. The taste is bitter-sweet, chocolate, earthy roast, charred wood, plum, fig, light tang and mocha/chocolate powder with a dry, toasty finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Not as sweet as feared. Balance is pretty solid. Decent.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
50cl bottle from Marks & Spencer, Camberley. A glossy peat colour with a billowing beige head; dry, cooking chocolate aroma; deep dry chocolate taste, with a milky body and a balancing bitterness from some very well roasted malts (that is, they’ve been toasted to cinders). Unfortunately the burnt notes leave an unpleasant aftertaste, otherwise a rather good chocolatey stout.

Triple chocoholic in cask at GBBF 2015. It has a lovely chocolate aroma on a deep black body. The taste is straight up chocolate goodness. Yum. 3.8

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Unsurprisingly dark chocolate dominates could quite easily be too sweet and sickly but it's balanced with the roast and bitter finish ok novelty stout.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Tasted this at the Paisley Beer Festival on the 23rd April 2015. Cask, handpump dispense. Black ruby in colour with a thin buff head. Strong chocolate note in the malty aroma. Thin oily mouthfeel and poor lacing. Dark malt complex gives a smooth chocolate McVities biscuit base with notes of dry roast grain coming through. There is a vague suggestion of a light hop prickle in the aftertaste which fades fast from the mouth. The malty finish is smooth and lactose sweet with strong notes of Aero chocolate becoming drier in the palate. This is a decent session stout but maybe too sweet for some.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
