2.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
[Cask at the Hobgoblin, Reading] Deep amber, off-white head. No fizz. Mouthfeel rather weak and watery. Sweet fruity malt comes through a little, but lots of sickly pear drops ruin it. Very poor I thought - was I drinking a different beer to everyone else here?

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
The Crown, NUNEATON. Scoop of foam over chestnut. Regurgitated catbiscuit aroma. Woodsy and slight with attempts at hazelnut, orange and almond. Alcohol detectable. If I wasn’t an RB junkie, I would have stuck with the Great Oakley Abbey Stout. As winter efforts go, watery.

Cask in the Market Porter. Alround rating: Toffee and a light roasty coffee character, grassy and floral hop come in to bitter and dont give much flavour. Decent enough but not as hot as thier summer citrusy beasts.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Cask handpull at The Market Porter. Light russet colour, lasting beige head. Good tasting ESB. Lovely fruity malt, good mouthfeel. Rather good. A little sweet maybe, but nice enough. Actually this is excellent. I arrived feeling a little jaded, but this got my mouth up and dancing. Some hop on end, but not aggressive.
