2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 fiulijn (10366) - Como, ITALY - AUG 19, 2011
Bottle from Firefly, Vancouver Hazy amber color; small sized head. Light aroma of caramel and vegetables. The body is quite weak, the mouthfeel dry; there is a minimal caramel flavor and a breadish character; quite low bitterness. Bad.
1.8 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20 DeanF (1478) - Iqaluit, Nunavut, CANADA - FEB 14, 2011
I gotta say that the labelling on these beers certainly looks one step below professional, which could mean great things (cool obscure local brewer) or horrible things (forgettable obscure local brewer). It pours with a fine amber body and a decent layer of head. Aroma is weird fermented skunkiness and swampwater with a hint of malt. Flavour is weird grass and malt with a dry finish. Based on this beer, I’m leaning toward calling the brewer closer to the latter.
2.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 mcberko (2456) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - FEB 13, 2010
Pours a golden orange. Almost nonexistent aroma of grains. Flavour is a boring balance of hops and malt. Not too bad.
2.2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 DuffMan (4418) - the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, CANADA - APR 24, 2008
Slightly orange-golden with a pretty bland grainy aroma. Thin lagery palate with low hop content, pretty disappointing really.
2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 TipsyMcStager (1065) - Calgary, Alberta, CANADA - OCT 16, 2007
run of the mill pale. Muted aroma. Average malt and hops. Passable to drink, but doesn’t beg to be tried again.
3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 BREWMUSKCLES (1679) - New Jersey, USA - OCT 8, 2007
went good with my bbq st. louis ribs. tingle of a hop profile and that’s it. nice caramel and nutty sweetness. pretty good malty backbone. good carbonation. sorry, i don’t SESSION beers anymore. nice dark amber color probably accentuates the tastes described above.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 presario (4129) - Stampede City, Alberta, CANADA - SEP 13, 2007
GCBF Sample. Good lacing. Moderate head. Malty aroma. Hoppier than expected. Light finish.
1.2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 3/20 DarkStar22769 (100) - Ontario, CANADA - AUG 21, 2006
From 650 ml bottle into an imp pint glass. Poured a highly carbonated amber (large bubbles clinging to the glass) with a thinnish head. Some flowery aromas take hold with the distant scent of hops. It’s a very light aroma. Flavour is thin and sour. There’s something that causes my cheeks to pucker and I can’t push that away long enough to get a sense of what this ale CAN taste like. A poor representation, unfortunately.
1.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 4/20 Lubiere (6979) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - AUG 20, 2006
Golden copper ale with a thin white head. Sweet yeasty aroma, with light nuttyness amd medicine notes. In mouth, an infected mess, with vinagry malt, and rubber. Unpleasant and a drain pour.
1.7 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 7/20 CapFlu (3798) - Victoria, British Columbia, CANADA - JUL 6, 2006
(650ml bottle) Purchased at the BC Liquor Store in Colwood. Pours headless with a lifeless bronze body. The nose is of butterscotch while the flavour is all diacetyl. This brewer either doesn’t clean properly or his bottling line ain’t capping right. Perhaps I should find this beer somewhere on tap?
