0.7 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 1/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 2/20
(500ml bottle) Purchased at Hillside Liquor for $6.90. Pours a large off-white head atop a lightish brown amber body. Nose of buttery popcorn mixed with berry seeds. Diacetyl. If this was another brewery I'd say this is a problem - but with Gulf Islands, if you're not drinking a freshly tapped keg, you're 99.8% sure it'll be bad. Awful stuff.

1.4 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20
Pours ruby-amber, fairly translucent, no head to speak of... some butter, not as bad as some I’ve had, mildly tart as expected for this brewery but not as bad as other beers of theirs. Dry on the front of the palate (caused by the tartness) and floral/berry at the back, reminds me of the heatherdale but without its refreshing qualities. Sweet finish but not cloying which is what I was worried about. Why is everything from this brewery mildly sour? The nose is rancid, starting to smell of armpit.
