COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
It took 2 years of brewing, tasting and testing to come up with the final recipe for Sam Adams Light. We focused on brewing a flavorful, high quality beer with a light-bodied taste and fewer calories. Sam Adams Light is a unique beer, it’s not a lighter version of our Boston Lager. Sam Adams Light is the only light beer that uses no adjuncts and a traditional brewing process to ensure a balance of flavor and light-bodied taste. No other domestic light beer uses only the four classic ingredients of beer: pure water, lager yeast, Noble hops and barley malt. The quality ingredients that make up Sam Adams Light include two-row malt and some of the most expensive hops in the world, Spalt Spalter Noble hops. At 128 calories, Sam Adams Light features a clean finish and no aftertaste.

Bottle. Pours clear amber with small white head. Aroma is light hoppiness and some yeast. Light mouthfeel, slightly bitter and slightly malty sweet. Crisp clean finish. Good as far as light beers go.

Bottled. An amber beer with a huge off-white head. The aroma has notes of fruit and caramel. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt and caramel - but not enough malt, which makes it light bodied and boring.

we were at a bar years ago, and while there a rep from sam adams came in and asked us to do a blind taste test of 4 light beers. we all picked theirs. doesnt make it a good beer, but certainly better than most light beers. still wouldnt drink it by choice though. light beer is evil.

Pours clear amber with small white head. Aroma is yeast, som hops and dough. Taste is watered down malts. Crisp finish. For a light beer this is decent.

Light amber, good head. Great bread malt taste and a good dose of hops bitterness. Actually pretty good for a light beer and much better than so many industrial lagers that I’ve had.

Even though this Light beer may come from Samuel Adams, it still doesn’t mean I am going to like it any more than the other “light” beers I have tasted. The whole concept in general sends shivers of revulsion running up and down my spine, but to be fair, I will try anything and try fairly I will.

Clear copper with amber and orange highlights streaking through her crystal clear depths. An impressive head fades in rocky patches to eventually settle as a thin splotchy blanket. I swirl my glass and find lace crackling right before my eyes. Why, I do believe this light beer was actually made with a rightful amount of malts and hops. His nose is malt first with orange essence, sweet grains, and soft breads; honey and whole wheat come to mind. Under and in the back of his nose, dry grass and lemon pith represent the hop side of the family. For a light beer, he has a bright nose. One final flourish of red apples, and I dive into the deep end. As expected, a light mouthfeel and body which is thankfully marked with a smoothness that belies soft breads from the local bakery. Bright and full-flavored in the middle, I find a platter of oranges and apples zapped with a spritz of lemon. Throughout our non-drainpouring session together, he retained a small level of wateriness that I guess is unavoidable when dabbling in the light side of things (aka the dark side of beer). Very little finish to note and as he warms a bit I discover crust and crackers underneath to carry the apples and oranges all the way to the bottom of my glass.

I must say that out of all the light beers I’ve tasted so far, the Samuel Adams came the closest to resembling real beer. If someone offered me one I’d still say no because if I am going to drink beer, I am going to drink beer.

Orange pour with white head, aroma of some biscuit, caramel, and a touch of grassy, earthy hops. Light grassy hops up front, leading into some caramel, biscuit, bready malt, finishing clean. Not bad, best light beer I’ve ever had...

Bottle- Clear golden honey color with a billowy head that fades quickly. Light grain aroma with a touch of light malt sweetness. Clean & crisp, with a mild malt taste & dry finish. Medium body, plenty of carbonation. Nice fresh feel. Easy drinker, lots of flavor for a light beer. Miles ahead of the other light beers I’ve had over the years.
