COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
It took 2 years of brewing, tasting and testing to come up with the final recipe for Sam Adams Light. We focused on brewing a flavorful, high quality beer with a light-bodied taste and fewer calories. Sam Adams Light is a unique beer, it’s not a lighter version of our Boston Lager. Sam Adams Light is the only light beer that uses no adjuncts and a traditional brewing process to ensure a balance of flavor and light-bodied taste. No other domestic light beer uses only the four classic ingredients of beer: pure water, lager yeast, Noble hops and barley malt. The quality ingredients that make up Sam Adams Light include two-row malt and some of the most expensive hops in the world, Spalt Spalter Noble hops. At 128 calories, Sam Adams Light features a clean finish and no aftertaste.

Ok, this was not the best beer I’ve had. Personally I would prefer a fine brown ale or a hearty Imperial stout. However, since no sentient being would drink this expecting anything other than a light beer, it must be reviewed in that context. And the reality is, if you want a light beer, you can’t do much better. First off it was light, without too much compromise of the flavour or body of the beer. Poured amber colour with a small white head. Aroma of malts, grass and hops. Flavour was a bit bland but mostly comsisted of grass, bitter hops and citrus fruits. Body was a bit thin, but not too much. Slight carbonation. A good beer overall, especially if you want something light.

Pours a light copper with a thin head. It has a faint smell of honey-wheat bread. The taste, likewise, is of bland bread with a touch of honey. I got no hops. For a very mild beer, it’s not too bad.

While still a light beer, much better than other light beers on the market. Fluffy cream foam head while finishing semi-sweet. Still nothing spectacular, but best diet beer so far...

Pours clear gold with a fluffy white head and a light floral aroma. Too bad it doesn’t taste as good as it looks. There is a thin caramel malt flavor with a hint of hop bitterness.

UPDATED: AUG 7, 2010 12 oz bottle served in a tulip. Pour is a deep, shimmering gold with two fingers of thick, quickly dissipating white head. Nose is a cheap light lager with light hops. Taste is where this one surprised me a bit. It was a lightly sweet toast with very light hops that kick in and last through the finish. This was not great by any means, but for a standard light lager, not too bad.

12oz bottle from a mix-pack. Orange-tan with a thin, oily head. Brewhouse, semi-macro aroma, not impressive. There is some minimal noble hopping that keeps this one together, but other than that a pretty weak offering. Maybe they needed another year to work on it. The malt taste is just thin and weak, and almost tastes like 6-row or some other adjunct. Almost a thin ambery taste to it. Unimpressive.

UPDATED: SEP 5, 2010 The little flavor it has makes this better than most light beers, but there still isn’t much to make this worth buying unless your serious about diet beer. That being said, it’s way better than the super macro lights

By all accounts, one of the better light beers I have had, and I’m not even a big Boston lager fan..smooth with little hops or ibus. Slight malt taste. Refreshing
