COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
It took 2 years of brewing, tasting and testing to come up with the final recipe for Sam Adams Light. We focused on brewing a flavorful, high quality beer with a light-bodied taste and fewer calories. Sam Adams Light is a unique beer, it’s not a lighter version of our Boston Lager. Sam Adams Light is the only light beer that uses no adjuncts and a traditional brewing process to ensure a balance of flavor and light-bodied taste. No other domestic light beer uses only the four classic ingredients of beer: pure water, lager yeast, Noble hops and barley malt. The quality ingredients that make up Sam Adams Light include two-row malt and some of the most expensive hops in the world, Spalt Spalter Noble hops. At 128 calories, Sam Adams Light features a clean finish and no aftertaste.

Smells a bit skunky at first. However, the smell of hops breaks through after a second. Taste is of slight hops with a strong carbonation taste near the finish. A bit bitter near the end.

12 oz. bottle at the Midwest Longshot Regionals. Poured a clear, amber/orange, with an average, off white/lightest tan, bubbly head, and nice, ribbony lacing. The aroma was light grain, malt, light noble hints, with a light lager nose. The flavor presented subtle hop bitterness in a fairly good balance with the light malt. Good carbonation with a little creaminess to the palate. Very sessionable without being watery. Not bad.

Very solid light beer - rate within the class... works well. Has taste and aroma unlike the typical american light beers. Very drinkable and good for many occasions.

A very fine, quality light beer. I would have to say this is one of my favorite light beers as it brings enough flavor of an actual beer that one can not be left wondering what they are ingesting. Thos color shines a mighty bronze and copper, which also helps this beer stand out from other lite beer. A fine light beer.

Bottle, 355ml. Pours a clear copper colour with a modest tan head, looks similar to the Boston Lager. Aroma is nice and floral, suggests some caramel and roastiness. Taste is a big let down, but then again, it is a light beer. Has some roasted character, but also a nasty industrial finish that makes sure I’ll never buy this again. Definetely the best of the light beers, but why else would you buy this?

Bottle. Pour was very clear but surprisingly dark. This almost looked like a medium amber golden color. Flavor was still very crisp and light with a touch of hop character, but mostly just a nice, clean beer.

Bottle from the Summer variety pack. Pours clear copper color wih off white head. Aromas of cereal malts, caramel and hops. Flavor is surprisingly decent for a light beer. Mild caramel and some hop bitterness. Light to medium body, slghtly watery with average carbonation. He best tasting light beer I have had.

UPDATED: MAY 8, 2011 12 oz. Clear orange-amber with a lasting film of bubbles. Nose is honey-kissed grain, with light citrus and metal. Flavor is the same but no metal; better. Light-medium body is watery and drinkable. Best light beer around, but I only drink them when they’re mixed in the sampler 12 pack that has new offerings.
