COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
It took 2 years of brewing, tasting and testing to come up with the final recipe for Sam Adams Light. We focused on brewing a flavorful, high quality beer with a light-bodied taste and fewer calories. Sam Adams Light is a unique beer, it’s not a lighter version of our Boston Lager. Sam Adams Light is the only light beer that uses no adjuncts and a traditional brewing process to ensure a balance of flavor and light-bodied taste. No other domestic light beer uses only the four classic ingredients of beer: pure water, lager yeast, Noble hops and barley malt. The quality ingredients that make up Sam Adams Light include two-row malt and some of the most expensive hops in the world, Spalt Spalter Noble hops. At 128 calories, Sam Adams Light features a clean finish and no aftertaste.

Aroma of caramel, toast, apple and light noble hops. Appearance amber with quickly dissipating white head. Flavor is slightly nutty up front, along with the obvious caramel. The finish is a little fruity, with a very subtle noble hop presence. Palate is bubbly, soft and light bodied overall. A well made lager, not as complex as some of it’s German and Czech counterparts, but very drinkable and clean.

12 oz. bottle. Far and away the best large-scale light beer. Not even comparable to the mass-produced "American-style light lagers" granted it has about double the calories of a "55 calorie" beer. If you want to drink a lot at a party with some dignity and not look like a beer snob or are watching calories, this is a your best option. Also a great gateway beer for helping move friends from pale lagers to real beer.

12oz bottle. This is very basic, but better than most light beers. Color is decent, not great, slightly above clear. Everything is what it says, light. Light aromas of pale malt in the nose and a clean flavorless palate. That’s about it, not completely offensive.

Clear copper pour nice head. Taste and aroma is grainy with a touch of sweetness. Not bad for a light brew.

Someone left me a six pack after a party I recently had. Pours bright amber with small head. Not all that much on nose but grains. Tastes of grain, cereal, malt, caramel, earth, and light hopping. Lively carbonation makes this fun drinking lager

THOUGHTS: An incredibly flavorful light beer. Nice balance. TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a very light amber with an average, off-white head that mostly diminished. The aroma had moderate grain and cereal; slight caramel; and light to moderate floral, herbal and grassy hops. The initial flavor was lightly sweet and slightly bitter; while the finish was light to moderately sweet and lightly bitter with a short duration. There was grain, a little cereal, pale malts, watery caramel, grassy and floral hops. The slightly heavier that light body was a little watery but also slightly sticky on the lips with fizzy carbonation.

Bottle. Aroma is light and of grain. Has a crisp, watery taste of slight hops and a bit sweet overall. Hmm, I guess I don’t know how I should score this. On one hand, as an American light beer, it’s pretty crisp and definitely enjoyable. On the other hand, it’s the very definition of plain and dull. Want a light beer? Go for this. Want a good, flavorful beer? Perhaps not. 4% alcohol.

Bottle. Clear bronze pour with a nice white foamy head. Aroma is nutty and caramel malt. Medium-light palate, mild carbonation. Taste is caramel malt, nut, and a little bit of grass. Not a great beer, but terrific for its style.
