COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
It took 2 years of brewing, tasting and testing to come up with the final recipe for Sam Adams Light. We focused on brewing a flavorful, high quality beer with a light-bodied taste and fewer calories. Sam Adams Light is a unique beer, it’s not a lighter version of our Boston Lager. Sam Adams Light is the only light beer that uses no adjuncts and a traditional brewing process to ensure a balance of flavor and light-bodied taste. No other domestic light beer uses only the four classic ingredients of beer: pure water, lager yeast, Noble hops and barley malt. The quality ingredients that make up Sam Adams Light include two-row malt and some of the most expensive hops in the world, Spalt Spalter Noble hops. At 128 calories, Sam Adams Light features a clean finish and no aftertaste.

12 oz bottle. Aroma is of caramel malt. Pours a pretty crappy head with a light amber hue. Malty taste. Light hopping. Doesn’t taste like a light beer, which was to be expected. Too malty for my taste.

Elwood (1834) - Between a rock and a hard place, Virginia, USA - SEP 19, 2009
Serving: 12 oz. bottle. Appearance: Light copper color with a good sized, foamy, white head. Decent head retention. Aroma: Light nose. A bit of grain, pale malt, and caramel. No off characteristics. Flavor: Not bad for a light beer! A little malt sweetness, some graininess, and a pleasant hop bitterness in the background. Palate: Medium carbonation with a medium-light mouthfeel and a medium-short, slightly bitter finish. Overall: If you have to enter the light beer world, this is a solid choice. It will never blow you away, but then that’s really the point.

All in all this isn’t bad. It’s a step above most of the other light beers, but it’s still definitely a light beer.

bottle: pint glass: I really like Sam Adams; never afraid to add heavy hops, full bodied ingredients, and complexity... not in this beer. I know they were aiming for light, but why?!

Pours a golden color with a white head. Really not much taste because its a lite beer. 12 oz. bottle

UPDATED: JUN 26, 2010 This has quickly become my go-to beer. Perfect summer session beer. Light beer without sacrificing on the taste.

12oz bottle. Pours a crystal clear, copper-orange body with a finger-width, off-white, fizzy head that dissipates quickly and leaves just a light lacing. Aroma is a light, sweet caramel and some pale malts. A bit of metallic citrus and berries creep in there as well. Flavor is cereal grain malts and a light caramel sweetness. Some crisp toffee in the finish as well as a berry sweetness. Medium dry with a light bitterness in the finish. Thinner bodied, but smooth. Overall, hands down the best "light" beer I’ve had. Doesn’t taste overly watered down or unnatural. When it comes to genre, this is top notch.
