COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
It took 2 years of brewing, tasting and testing to come up with the final recipe for Sam Adams Light. We focused on brewing a flavorful, high quality beer with a light-bodied taste and fewer calories. Sam Adams Light is a unique beer, it’s not a lighter version of our Boston Lager. Sam Adams Light is the only light beer that uses no adjuncts and a traditional brewing process to ensure a balance of flavor and light-bodied taste. No other domestic light beer uses only the four classic ingredients of beer: pure water, lager yeast, Noble hops and barley malt. The quality ingredients that make up Sam Adams Light include two-row malt and some of the most expensive hops in the world, Spalt Spalter Noble hops. At 128 calories, Sam Adams Light features a clean finish and no aftertaste.

Bottle. Clear amber body. Small off-white head that disappears. The aroma is grain with notes of husks and caramel. There is a hint of floral hops. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body with a watery texture and fizzy carbonation. I had hoped for the beer to have more of the Boston Lager profile, but it doesn’t have near the hop flavor. Still better than a lot of light beer alternatives because it has some flavor.

Pours dark amber with a tall chunky off white head that has good retention. Aroma is caramel, noble hops, grass and a hint of toasted nuts. Flavor is caramel, toasted nuts, bread crust, grainy malt, planty hops and a little butterscotch. Finish is planty and slightly bitter. Finish is very clean, noble hops and a bit of toast. Not a bad beer really not off tastes or anything, just kind of boring. Definitely the best beer I have had that is labeled as "light".

This is probably my favorite "light" beer. It’s a little watered down, but has a lot more taste than most of the other light beers. Pours amber with a rich flavor and a light east kent golding hops and crystal malt flavor.

For the style, I think this is a remarkable beer. It’s the only light beer I can stomach. Overall, though, it’s middle-of-the-road. So 5/5 for "Light Lager", but 1/5 for Lagers in general, so I’m giving it a 3.

12 ounce bottle. Pours an amber color, clear, with a large head. Poor head retention and lacing. Aroma is grain with a sweet finish. Taste is caramel, toasted malts and a fruity finish. Thin bodied. Actually, fairly decent.

For a light beer, this isn’t bad at all. Similar to the Boston Lager, just a little watered down. Good if your watching the calories but don’t want a nasty miller 64.
