COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
It took 2 years of brewing, tasting and testing to come up with the final recipe for Sam Adams Light. We focused on brewing a flavorful, high quality beer with a light-bodied taste and fewer calories. Sam Adams Light is a unique beer, it’s not a lighter version of our Boston Lager. Sam Adams Light is the only light beer that uses no adjuncts and a traditional brewing process to ensure a balance of flavor and light-bodied taste. No other domestic light beer uses only the four classic ingredients of beer: pure water, lager yeast, Noble hops and barley malt. The quality ingredients that make up Sam Adams Light include two-row malt and some of the most expensive hops in the world, Spalt Spalter Noble hops. At 128 calories, Sam Adams Light features a clean finish and no aftertaste.

A solid light beer entry, it does actually resemble the sam adams boston lager.

I’m not sure why everybody is scoring this one so low. It could be that everyone likes more malty flavor in their beer. that’s why they need to score it for what it is in the class that it’s in, light beer. Most of my scores are average. Aroma and appearance okay for style but nothing stands out. I have flavor as above average because S.A. puts the same great hoppy flavor in the light beer as the Boston Lager and Summer Ale. I will agree with "Underhook’s" comment that compare to other light beers it is spectacular. When I mean other light beers I am talking about Bud Light and Coors Light.

UPDATED: OCT 31, 2008 I don’t really know how to go about rating this beer. Compared to other pale, fizzy, watery lagers it’s spectacular. But in the full spectrum of beer it’s below average, like most light beers. The taste pleasantly surprised me with a full mouthfeel that lacked the super watery, fizzy feeling that most American light beers have. The malty nose wasn’t bad either, but nothing to write home about. Had a much better, more refined taste than pretty much every other pale light lager I’ve ever tasted. It’s a bit sweet, malty, carbonated. Better than the competition in its bracket, but obviously falls short when compared to other, higher quality non-light beers.

One of the better macro produced light beers out there. clear amberish pour, white head. Light watery malty taste, almost no aroma. However very drinkable and light bodied

Pours dark golden with a finger thick white head. Malty aroma. Touch of banana at the front of the mouth with malt following.

By far the best beer I’ve had that advertises itself as a light beer. Great looking beer - the color of BL, with a decent head with some retention. Weak malty aroma and taste. Watery mouthfeel with a manufactured sweetness - not sugary, but not really malty either. Keep in mind, though, that these comments are relative to their BL, and not relative to Bud Light, which tells me that this is a far more serious beer.

Bottle pours a clear amber color with a medium white head. Aroma is mostly malt with some hops. Flavor is light and refreshing, slightly sweet with a hint of bitterness in the finish. Unlike most domestic light beers this one has a nice aftertaste. Good carbonation too. This is not your typical domestic light beer, but what else would you expect from Sam Adams.

Slight fruity nose, some metallic notes. Light orange color decent medium head, but dissipated quickly. Watery caramel sweetness, some malt, mild flowery bitterness. Really nice carbonation--just right--body is light medium, finish is abrupt, but pleasant. In the light beer realm, this is a breath of fresh air, solid low calorie choice.
