COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
It took 2 years of brewing, tasting and testing to come up with the final recipe for Sam Adams Light. We focused on brewing a flavorful, high quality beer with a light-bodied taste and fewer calories. Sam Adams Light is a unique beer, it’s not a lighter version of our Boston Lager. Sam Adams Light is the only light beer that uses no adjuncts and a traditional brewing process to ensure a balance of flavor and light-bodied taste. No other domestic light beer uses only the four classic ingredients of beer: pure water, lager yeast, Noble hops and barley malt. The quality ingredients that make up Sam Adams Light include two-row malt and some of the most expensive hops in the world, Spalt Spalter Noble hops. At 128 calories, Sam Adams Light features a clean finish and no aftertaste.

Wonderful malty aroma with toast and a touch of caramel show Whitish head which seems to dissipate rather quickly Clean malt flavors with some of the toast in the nose finishing with a tart and spicy hop flavor. Just a touch of fruity and yeasty notes. Medium high carbonation a little prickly and lightens the body The medium light finish is quick light and with just a touch of hop flavor. When cold the flavor complexity is not there but when warm is very enjoyable and drinkable Overall: For a light beer - not light on flavor and something you can enjoy Cheers!!! A fantastic light beer (Scored below 3 since the finish is a little insipid)

12 oz. bottle from John’s Grocery (Iowa City, IA). Pours a fairly clear amber hue with a bright white head of decent proportions that quickly begins to dissipate to a film. Initial aromas of a touch of caramel malts and a slight hoppy sweetness. Initial taste is a lightly hopped and decent malty sweetness that is impressive in taste and body for a "Light" beer. "Sam Adams"ish finish that is similar to it’s big brother. A decent brew that I’d turn to regularly if on the calorie count. However, it is pleasant but possesses a highly understated taste.

I did not buy this, I swear. Someone left it at my house after a party so I decided to open it up and rate the stuff. As far as premium lagers go it is not bad. A little more toasted grain flavors than I expect from this style. After that though, there is not much else there.

Clear medium amber, white head.Somewhat sweet caramel aroma with some hints of grain and grass.Sweet flavor of honey initially but fades to a nice balance between sweet and bitter.Light body.Easy to drink.Brief, slightly yeasty finish.Better than I expected.Well done.

A bit of a fruity scent with a hint of musty in the aroma. For a light beer, it has a thick mouthfeel and impressive body. There is a bit of yeast and alcohol in the flavor. Hops and malt are very faint. It’s very bubbly, so much so that I poured it rough into a glass to knock a bit of the bubbly edge off that seemed to be masking some of the flavor subtleties. I disagree that the aftertaste is clean. There is some alcohol and yeast. This is probably one of the best light beers I’ve ever had.

Bottle. Pours a light amber with a small white head. Aroma of light fruits, wheat malt. Initial taste is of stale wheat, but this disappears as the beer warms and becomes much more fruity and light and crisp. Although this is not technically a lighter version of the Boston Lager, it sure tastes like it! A little less fruity, weaker palate. But certainly the best light beer I’ve ever had and it is so close to the SABL that they’re practically interchangeable. I applaud SA for making a light beer that actually has flavor and no adjuncts!! Tasty and refreshing.

12oz bottle. Poured a deep, clear gold with highlights of orange/copper and a thick, largely-bubbled, white head. The aroma is somewhat grainy with some notes of bready yeast. The flavor is clean with bready malts and very little sweetness. At mid-palate, a balancing level of bitterness becomes apparent, but it isn’t firm or particularly noble in character (though label indicates only noble European hops were used). The finish is balanced, dry, and refreshing with some graininess. The mouthfeel is crisply carbonated and medium in body. Overall, a drinkable beer that is certainly bigger in character and flavor than, for instance, Bud Light, but it still pales in the shadow of other fuller, non-light lagers.

This is the king of light beers, at least in the flavor department. Slight aroma of grain. Nice color for a light beer. Good balance and slightly hoppy. Overall a very pleasant drinkable beer. Won’t satisfy your thirst for multiple beers on a hot summer day like a domestic light beer but that isn’t why you drink Sam Adams Light. This is a very nice pleasant drinkable brew that doesn’t have that traditional light beer taste and feel. I would recommend to anyone that wants more flavor and heartiness than a typical light beer.
