COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
It took 2 years of brewing, tasting and testing to come up with the final recipe for Sam Adams Light. We focused on brewing a flavorful, high quality beer with a light-bodied taste and fewer calories. Sam Adams Light is a unique beer, it’s not a lighter version of our Boston Lager. Sam Adams Light is the only light beer that uses no adjuncts and a traditional brewing process to ensure a balance of flavor and light-bodied taste. No other domestic light beer uses only the four classic ingredients of beer: pure water, lager yeast, Noble hops and barley malt. The quality ingredients that make up Sam Adams Light include two-row malt and some of the most expensive hops in the world, Spalt Spalter Noble hops. At 128 calories, Sam Adams Light features a clean finish and no aftertaste.

Pours golden. A darker color for a beer called a light beer. Large 2 inch frothy and thick white head. The beer is see through, of course, and hardly has any bubbles. Sweet malty aroma with some citrus notes. There is some apple (citrus) in the aroma and taste. I’m assuming this is a light version of the Boston lager, but has more balls like the Boston ale. I think its much better than the Boston lager actually. The flavor is full, and hardly characteristic of a light beer. It’s a little sweet, and has a light hoppy, fairly crisp finish. There is definitely no crap corn in this beer. Good job on this one Jim. This is a good beer for the style and definitely a premium lager and not a crappy pale American lager like I was expecting. If you’re looking for a light beer, this is an excellent choice. It’s refreshing, but almost a little heavy if you’re a lightweight.

Not a bad light beer at all. Amber in color topped with just a thin white head. The head fizzles pretty quickly and little to no lace is left on the glass. Not really a whole lot like a regular Boston Ale or Lager. This had a watery, slightly sour taste and just a bit of a hoppy flavor. Not really for me but if I feel like a light beer or you are looking for a good light beer definitely give this one a shot.

Nice off-white head with a full gold body. Malty aroma and a weak, weak, Boston Lager taste. Malty and watery, with a watery mouthfeel. Needs to be a signifigant calorie reduction over the regular to justify the taste difference.

The best light lager. Slightly sweet no bad attributes. If you are going to drink light, this is it. Give it a try.

For a light beer? woah. Pretty awesome. It actually has flavor! This is the best light available, hands down.

A viable alternative to Sam regular. Has the Samuel Adams distinct taste but is oddly less in alcohol and flavor. It was weird for me and not the typical Sam.

Very good for a light beer. This is perhaps the best light beer on the market. It actually tastes like beer, more like an ale than a lager. Excellent right out of the bottle. If you’re drinking light beer, you should be drinking this.

I didn’t bother to pour this one into a glass, but out of the bottle it is pretty good, an above average light beer. The aroma is clean, and very slightly hoppy. The body is similar to other light beers, but the taste is a bit more grainy. I found the taste to vary from time to time, and I suppose it was more my own taste than anything, but sometimes I liked it a lot and other times I couldn’t tell it from other light beers which shall remain nameless. Overall, though, it’s still my preferred light, mainly due to the taste and decent palate.
