COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
It took 2 years of brewing, tasting and testing to come up with the final recipe for Sam Adams Light. We focused on brewing a flavorful, high quality beer with a light-bodied taste and fewer calories. Sam Adams Light is a unique beer, it’s not a lighter version of our Boston Lager. Sam Adams Light is the only light beer that uses no adjuncts and a traditional brewing process to ensure a balance of flavor and light-bodied taste. No other domestic light beer uses only the four classic ingredients of beer: pure water, lager yeast, Noble hops and barley malt. The quality ingredients that make up Sam Adams Light include two-row malt and some of the most expensive hops in the world, Spalt Spalter Noble hops. At 128 calories, Sam Adams Light features a clean finish and no aftertaste.

UPDATED: FEB 2, 2008 Noble hops and yeast in the aroma here. Golden amber with a light straw head. The flavor is more present than in other examples of this style, but still lacking in all areas.

Smells very pleasantly hoppy at first, gives way to a skunky grassy unpleasant aroma. Taste is very similar to your average light beet. Watery, lacking flavor, hints of malt. Nothing special.

Cryotek (206) - Pawtucket, Rhode Island, USA - OCT 13, 2007
UPDATED: JAN 26, 2008 Faint sweet smell, almost like white zifindel, and a very larger hop aroma. Moderately sweet flavor, some maltiness in there too. More golden or amber than any other ligh, almost a rusty orange. Would never drink this over any of the other Sams but this is one of the better lights around, maybe thee best.

UPDATED: SEP 9, 2008 bottle. malty, sweet taste... doesn’t taste like your typical lite beer at all... pours a nice amber color. Not much in the aroma. If you want a beer with low calories, pick up some of this - b/c it beats the alternatives hands down, except in price.

UPDATED: OCT 28, 2007 Bottle. Foamy white head, good retention. Hint of hops in the aroma & taste. The best light beer I’ve tried, but it’s still a light beer.

For a light beer, really not too bad. Good, crisp lager taste without the nasty flavors from most light beers. Nothing interesting, but if you’re going to have a light beer this is the one to try.
