3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 rjplumer (254) - Providence, Rhode Island, USA - JUL 24, 2011
Pours a clear golden brown with a quickly dissipating head. Has a mild yeasty malt aroma. The taste is almost the same with a bit of sourness in the finish. More character than most average light beer.
2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 KUEric (825) - Washington, Washington DC, USA - JUL 22, 2011
It’s got more malt character than your average light beer - and for a light beer it ain’t all that bad. There’s a little yeast in there as well. Not bad, but I wouldn’t want to power through 6,10,12 of these (and I certainly wouldn’t want to pay for that many of them which is what light beer should be for even for all those beer snobs).
2.6 AROMA 1/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 8/20 zonmei (23) - Bamberg, GERMANY - JUL 22, 2011
Pours nice light amber with a thick head that quickly dissipates.
Bad nose. I first thought of ’just went fishing’ hands. Bait and fish.
The taste wasn’t bad at all considering the initial smell. A bit thin, but malty and smooth. I didn’t think I was drinking a light beer at all.
As others have noted, I can’t consider this a ’Light’ beer when calories and carbs aren’t in the same range as other light beers. A Mich Ultra has less taste, but I know I’m getting a light beer.
2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 andyhwcinc (807) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - JUL 11, 2011
Purchased as part of the ’Summer Styles’ 12 pack at Binny’s in Chicago, IL; enjoyed with a good friend for my 30th birthday while watching the Home Run Derby. Appearance a clear brown amber with thin white head
Aroma light bready malts, pretty faint but great for a light beer. Taste very very drinkable, definitely a light beer but so much more flavor than a mass produced light lager. Mostly bready malts with light lager yeast. Would definitely recommend for someone considering a craft brew!
1.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20 LetsGoState (310) - Pennsylvania, USA - JUL 11, 2011
Aroma is a typical boring light lager with bland malts. Taste is similarly lacking character with sweet corn malts. Overall it’s one of the better light beers, but still just a light beer.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 johnnnniee (909) - Bedford, New Hampshire, USA - JUL 10, 2011
Part of the summer mix pack.
Pours a clear deep golden color with a stingy white head that dissolves almost instantly leaving a small ring on top. Smells of bready malt, honey, and toffee with hints of floral and earthy hops. Taste is slightly sweet with that grainy malt flavor. A Little bit of floral earthy hop flavors. Light bodies with a moderate level of carbonation and a sweet watery mouthfeel. This is definitely not my favorite style, but if I had to drink it this would be the one I would choose. There’s enough flavor and maltiness in here to make this an interesting lawnmower beer and its certainly better than the competitors in the style.
1.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20 bkurtz (461) - PERU - JUL 10, 2011
Poured golden with a nice head. It looks and smells like it could be a good be, but it is very thin. Nice for a light beer, but not a beer.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 CharmCityCrab (60) - Pennsylvania, USA - JUL 9, 2011
Malt forward but very clean and refreshing, this light lager includes impressive taste and color for a light beer. The main issue is: Is this really a light beer? At 128 calories, it is significantly more calorie heavy than the more popular light beers, and actually contains more calories than some regular non-light lagers -- and 9 carbs is higher than the big three light lagers (Although lower than most regular lagers). Calories and carbs count when it comes to light beers, which are usually consumed with the idea that they’ll add a bit less to your waistline. When you then consider this beer’s price range (up there with the typical Sam Adams brews), and weigh it against beers in that price range rather than light beers, it scores significantly lower. To be honest, if this were 99 calories and 6 or fewer carbs, I’d rate it versus the light beers and rate it significantly higher. If it were a bit cheaper, I’d rate it against some of the mainline lagers. As things stand? This is drinkable, but nothing special. I’m fine with it being in the summer mix pack, and like the new summer label with the lighthouse and sand (Assuming it’s just for the season), but I wouldn’t buy a solo 6 pack of this.
