Aroma is noble with some light grainy two-row notes. Flavor has a very mild noble hops note first and then quickly moves into a non offensive, lightly sweet grain bite. It’s a pretty plain flavor but its nice that it is A) not overly sweet B) thin as piss and C) tastes like beer. Overall a very fine light beer and one I could drink if I were on a diet of only 5 beers/night. ben4321 (1061), Rockville, Maryland, USA

It’s too dark for even gold and eases into the lighter end of the amber category. It definitely has a light flavor profile and very low bitterness. An edge on the fizzy side, but refreshing. There is a definitely maltiness to this beer. A little caramel even. It’s actually pretty darn drinkable. I wouldn’t turn this down if it were offered. I’m rating this a little higher than I would normally, but I think it deserves the extra credit for making a light beer worth drinking. SamGamgee (1477), Santa Cruz (La Selva), California, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | May 8, 2009 12oz bottle. Light amber color with a small head. Caramel and mineral aroma. Caramel, grainy malt, and very light hop flavors. Light with fizzy carbonation, finishing pretty short and clean. The malt character reminds me a lot of sam Smith pale ale actually, in a random realization. A bit more hop bite would be nice, but this probably isn’t the freshest sample; this stuff doesn’t move an inch around here. Seems to have too heavy of a malt character for a light beer though. More caramel that regular SA, but I guess the lack of hops might make it more accessible. ditmier (1122), Boise, Idaho, USA

| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Apr 27, 2009 Bottle. Pours a clear light amber with a one finger off-white head that faded quickly. The nose is caramel malt and light fruit. The taste is malt, grain and faint dry earthy hops in the finish. Lighter bodied. Not great, but an ok light beer. nefarious (203), Clarkston, Michigan, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Apr 23, 2009 What a beer! Amber pour with a generous white head. and definate grain and barley aroma. Heavy malt flavor as well. but you know it runs circles around most other lagers. just like regular Sam. Skeegle (503), Maryland, USA

It has a nice appearance of light amber and the smell holds something other than corn puffs. Decent barley notes all throughout around the caramel vein and there are some very light sugars present. Nice beer for what it is, I respect SA for brewing this guy up :-)
