COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
It took 2 years of brewing, tasting and testing to come up with the final recipe for Sam Adams Light. We focused on brewing a flavorful, high quality beer with a light-bodied taste and fewer calories. Sam Adams Light is a unique beer, it’s not a lighter version of our Boston Lager. Sam Adams Light is the only light beer that uses no adjuncts and a traditional brewing process to ensure a balance of flavor and light-bodied taste. No other domestic light beer uses only the four classic ingredients of beer: pure water, lager yeast, Noble hops and barley malt. The quality ingredients that make up Sam Adams Light include two-row malt and some of the most expensive hops in the world, Spalt Spalter Noble hops. At 128 calories, Sam Adams Light features a clean finish and no aftertaste.

12 oz bottle pours an amber color with a white head - darker pour than one would expect from this light beer. Aroma of malt and yeast. Malty taste that isn’t too bad for a light but not one I would go out of my way for.

Bottle. Faint caramel and hops aroma and flavor. Very pleasant if you just drank this one first. However, if you did a back-to-back comparison against the Boston Lager, you realize the Light is a muted version of the Boston Lager. I’d rather have thee real thing.

I bought this beer just to taste it. I don’t normally Drink light beers, for obvious reasons. Color is rich golden, some amber tints to it. Already this beer looks much better than any other light beer I’ve seen. Smells simple, like malts and straw. Taste like malts, no hop presence. After taste is not unpleasant, but it is short. Just a clean, light beer and that is not bad. I would choose this over any other mass produced light beers.

Appears clear, golden amber-brown with a moderate head that leaves not much lacing. A light aroma of open fields, mild hops, and barley malts. Taste is definitely malty with a touch of hops. If more "light" beers tasted as good as this one, I’d probably weigh about five to ten pounds less. There’s a touch of bitterness typical of most beers from this brewery, but it’s not overwhelming. Light and refreshing, with a well carbonated, easy drinking, dry mouthfeel. Drinkability is pretty good. It’s refreshing and is just as good ice cold as at 45 degrees. Not their best, but certainly tasty for a light beer.

Sam Adams Light has a mostly thin, white head and a clear, amber appearance, with some streaming bubbles and little lacing. The aroma presents a whiff of honey, water, and bread. Taste is of Roman Meal brand bread, light cracker, and a dash of hop bitterness at the end. Mouthfeel is light and watery, and Sam Adams Light finishes crisp, refreshing, easy drinking, and dull. This is no better than Milwaukee’s Best Light or Old Milwaukee Light, for a point of reference. Any company can take light beer and add caramel color to it. I think it’s average and not worth the elevated price. RJT

For a light beer it is very tasty and has a nice after taste. I like the color of the beer

12fl oz bottle poured into a Samuel Adams ’Perfect Pint’. Golden amber with a small, diminishing off-white head. Aroma is sweet malt, cereal grains. Flavor is cloyingly sweet. Hops are barely detectable. Finish is metallic. This is not a good beer. The only reason I have this beer is because it came in a seasonal variety pack. This is the worst offering I’ve tasted from Boston Beer so far. What do you expect, though, from something with the word ’Light’ on the label?

Bottle. Color is a light amber color. Darker then some regular beers. Taste is mild but tasty. Aroma is weak and watery. Great light beer.

You’ve read it before. "For a light beer...." Still, can’t be much more truth than that. A really nice substitute for the non-light version, still full of body, flavor and aroma. Sure, it’s not bursting with it, but it’ll fill the void. Malty flavor and aroma but reeled in a bit, light fruit-like sweetness with a crisp, clean finish with just a slight sweet aftertaste. Had a few of these recently and surpised at how much flavor they can still put in a beer with under 125 calories.
