GeneralGao (3051), Iowa City, Iowa, USA Apr 28, 2009 Draft at Union Oyster House. Poured a murky brown color with orange highlights. The head was thick and tan with an orange tint. Some lace was left behind on the glass at the end. Diacetyl dominated nose. Smelled of buttery toffee, butterscotch, and distinct brown sugar. Medium bodied and delicately sweet. Lots of malty flavors that included the likes of distinct brown sugar, vanilla, and buttery toffee. A slight metallic note at the end detracted somewhat. Not bad if you don’t mind buttery toffee and butterscotch aromas and flavors. DerBiermeister (504), Birmingham, Alabama, USA Sep 1, 2008 This is an excellent brew I enjoyed with my buddy James King when I took him to lunch to thank him for allowing me to stay with him in Boston so that I could go to my best friend’s wedding in Gloucester, Mass. This brew was really outstanding with the meal. Very enjoyable and highly recommended if you ever get to go to the Union Oyster House in Boston, which I believe my waitress informed me, is supposed to be the oldest still operating restaurant in America. bretupdegraff (172), Fishers, Indiana, USA Aug 27, 2008 I had this brew at the Union Oyster House in Boston. The bartender said this was made only for the Oyster house. It had a smokey/toasty flavor with a Decent aroma - nice malt flavor good carbonation... Hazy amber... Very nice. I really liked this brew - too bad I will not likely get a chance to enjoy it again.
