The first Ale in our seasonal range, Powerhouse Porter is our modern take on this classic London beer style.
Powerhouse is named in association with our local landmark Battersea Power Station.
We brew with a combination of brown, chocolate, crystal and pale malts and hop with a blend of Fuggles, Boadicea, Challenger and Fuggles. Powerhouse Porter is 4.9% ABV with a rich, dark chocolate flavour and an aroma of toasted malt and winter fruits.

Cask @ The Kings Arms, after a frustrating (if relieving) Chelsea victory. The pour’s deep reddish brown with a bubbly off-white head. The nose is big raspberry, hints of roasted grain, mildly astringent apple peel. The taste is more berry fruits. After acclimating to the the initial berry taste, a real strong red apple cider taste started to dominate. Little roast malt or dry coffee flavors present. This beer definitely has taken a funky infection on. Light body, soft. Overall, I can’t say the infection made this beer undrinkable, it just turned it into something that doesn’t resemble the beer described by other reviewers. Re-rate needed.

Backlog. At Mi2 at Cardinal 25.03.13. Dark brown. Pale brown head. Aroma of anise, Belgian dubbel and dark fruits. Taste of chocolate. Some tar and overripe fruits in aftertaste. Medium long bitterness. Perhaps a bit overcarbonated. OK drinkability. Improved as it became warmer.

Draught at black door in Helsinki. Bit of dark fruit and butter but no strong Aroma. Look like a Pepsi with little bit of lightly tanned head (0,2 inches). Sweet taste, dust and watery cherries is what comes to my mind. A bit of plastic roastiness too... Bit of old bread and sourness... Not pleasant beer! To avoid if you want a nice evening. By definition avoid sambrook’s stuff.

Diminishing fawn head. Clear dark dark brown body with ruby tones. Crocheted pearl-lacing. Aroma; mild sweet malts, toffee, floral hops, cocoa notes. Taste; prunes, cocoa, caramel, dusty hops, chocolate. Cocoa finish with faint notes of sweet banana. Soft in the mouth, nice body on 4.9%. Quaffable porter indeed. On cask at Greyhound, Hartshill. Pours very dark brown with a red hue, head is tan. Quite sweet for a porter which spoils a very smooth base. Nice enough but could have been much better.

Cask @ The Magnet, Stockport [011114]
Black with big ruby edges, thin tan head, touch of lacing
Aroma of soft roast, dab of dark fruits, hint of dark chocolate, light nose
Taste of dark caramel, soft mellow roast, dark plain chocolate, dark bit sweet malts, mellow, well balanced
Palate - Medium thin body, soft sweet and bitter. Finish of dark malts, soft plain bitter chocolate
Overall - Tad thin but decent porter, sweeter than usual for a porter, nice flavours

50 cl bottle.
Pours clear dark mahogany color with a small head. Dark ripe fruits on the nose, some nutty notes, toasted malts and faint coffee hints. Very bready and nutty flavor, caramel malts and some molasses build up to a sweet finish. Slick palate, slightly watery, way too bready.
