Half- pint, cask at The Lamb, the classic Young’s pub in Bloomsbury. Very dark body with a deep ruby tint. Tiny off-white head. Aroma of roasted malts, wood and dried fruits. Pretty similar taste profile containing resinous hops, wood, earthy malts and bittersweet, dark chocolate to the ending. Nice (London, 26.11.2012).

Diminishing fawn head. Clear dark dark brown body with ruby tones. Crocheted pearl-lacing.
Aroma; mild sweet malts, toffee, floral hops, cocoa notes.
Taste; prunes, cocoa, caramel, dusty hops, chocolate. Cocoa finish with faint notes of sweet banana.
Soft in the mouth, nice body on 4.9%. Quaffable porter indeed.

On cask at Greyhound, Hartshill. Pours very dark brown with a red hue, head is tan. Quite sweet for a porter which spoils a very smooth base. Nice enough but could have been much better.

Black with big ruby edges, thin tan head, touch of lacing
Aroma of soft roast, dab of dark fruits, hint of dark chocolate, light nose
Taste of dark caramel, soft mellow roast, dark plain chocolate, dark bit sweet malts, mellow, well balanced
Palate - Medium thin body, soft sweet and bitter. Finish of dark malts, soft plain bitter chocolate
Overall - Tad thin but decent porter, sweeter than usual for a porter, nice flavours

Pours clear dark mahogany color with a small head. Dark ripe fruits on the nose, some nutty notes, toasted malts and faint coffee hints. Very bready and nutty flavor, caramel malts and some molasses build up to a sweet finish. Slick palate, slightly watery, way too bready.

Cask at the Le Gothique Wandsworth Beer Festival on 29 March 2012. Poured black, with a halo of beige head. Aroma of coffee, cocoa nibs and molasses. Liquorice in the flavour, with dark chocolate and roasted malt. Finish was coffee, treacle and dates.

Cask at the Windsor Castle, Kensington. Black with a loose white head. Aromas of blackcurrant and plum, liquorice, slate. Clean bittersweet taste with a hint of sour. There is also a savoury almost smoky note. Notes of liquorice and beechwood. Light and surprisingly refreshing mouthfeel for a porter. Nice.

Clear, near-black reddish beer with a foamy head. Chocolatety, , aroma. Rich in body, chocolate, fruit and light, , toastymalt. Leaves a faint but pleasant sweet aftertaste.

Pours a very dark black/brown with a tan head. The smell is dark chocolate, coffee, dark fruit. The taste is as it smells ending a bit bitter. The body is light with a mild carbonation.

Mørk, mørk brun med et beige skum som holdt bra. Aroma av røstet malt, karamell, frukt og sjokolade. Smaken følger aroma,men her er det også hint av kaffe.

Strong, fruity and treacly. Not the best pint as it was towards the end of the barrel, and I’d been drinking the 3 Weiss Monkeys up until that point. Would be a good mid-Guiness break for stout lovers.
