Nice, sweet, malty aroma upon pouring. Head is abundant and dark cream colored with some lacing. Appearance is like strong tea. Flavor is reminicent of a dopplebock - very malty with some sweet caramel-like undertones. Holds up well throughout the whole pint. Good find at a neighborhood liquor store.

Sulfury, sour milk-like nose with a hint of grains. Clear amber/brown color and a foamy tan head. Light caramel tastes with a sour middle. Finish like a weak coffee you’d get in a diner in Jersey. Oily mouth feel. Overall not so good.

Malt, grain, barn smell. Red brown, nearly no head. Medium sweet malt taste, but very thin.

Red brown dark cola clear with small short lasting head. Faint roasted maly and stronger sweet caramel molasses aroma. Body was a touch thin for my taste. Medium roasted malt and faint sweet cola flavoured start and middle. Mild bittersweet finish and aftertaste. Interesting but maybe others woudl find it more so.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Dark brown, moderate carbonation, with an amber tinge and with a thick, adequate head. Easy bock malt aroma with the appearance of molasses. Easy to quaff malt roast--this beer seems like a fairly typical, nicely crafted, munich dunkel.

This beer was way too unbalanced for a decent rating. Grainy grainy grainy. It tasted like they boiled the malts rather than mashed them. Strange sweet aftertaste which reminded me of sachrin. This is not a brew that I would seek out in the future.

Purchased a bottle for 89 cents at a going-out-of-business sale. This was 89 cents well spent. Not an bad dark lager. Aroma of caramel and raisins. Dark brown with almost no head. Sweet fruity caramel flavor with a little roast in the background. Medium body. Reminds me of Negra Modela or something from Casta.

typical ’chalky’ taste - like they add some kind of brown chalk to the beer to make it dark - same flavor found in Heine dark. There is some malt taste, but not quality. I’ll try their regular next to see if it’s any better.

A surprisingly good dark Czech beer. Tasted almost like toffee, with a good sweet flavor and mild bitter tones. Very smooth and easy to drink.

Assumed it was a pils, being Chzec and all. Head formed nicely, smelled bready, and then slightly cheesey. It is a dark red/brown, but I wouldn’t call it a ’Schwartz’ by appearance. Taste is slightly sweet and bitter at the same time, the cheese like quality not sticking around. Seems almost like tea. Head stays on through the better portion of the pint.
