500ml bottle from Tesco, Plzen. Very deep ruby colour with thin beige head. Charcoal aroma and then this dark plum/cherry sweetish fruit in moouth. If I was given this as a mild, I’d say it’s a tad sweet. OK for drinking, but just a tad too sweet.

500 ml bottle. Pours reddish-brown, lingering tan head. Smells of some dark malts, but also some corn sugar, although somehow this isn’t too bad. At least there’s no skunk for a green-bottled import (but the native version is in a brown bottle? Curse those Heinekens!). I’m tasting this after some honey-roast peanuts, so I’m picking up plenty of sweetness. Very grainy taste up front, but not as corny as the smell suggested. Fizz is more along the lines of a thick cola. In fact, the taste reminds me of the non-alcoholic kvas sodas in Russian neighborhood grocers. Other raters mention rye bread, and that’s in kvas, alright. Not a great dunkel, but more character and spunk than most American "dark" beers, and interesting in itself. Absolutely terrific. There’s something really unusual going on here in the flavor profile, and it’s kind of hard to describe. Moderate thickness for a dunkel. Pretty sweet. Moderate fizz. A weird hoppy flavor - sort of herbal. I love this one.

In the bottle from Beertopia. Pours brown with a resilient beige creamy head. This has a mild roasted aroma that covers up an initial slight skunkiness. The flavor is nicely caramel and creamy chocolate. Very passable beer when considering that it costs only $2.79 for a 0.5L bottle.

bottle. pours ruby with off white head. aroma is a bit skunky with some sweet grains and chocolate. flavor is skunky, toasted biscuit, dark fruit and chocolate. a decent dunkel but would be even better in a brown bottle.

Bottled, thanjs oh6gdx! Dark brown, small beige head. Roasty coffee aroma with some dextrose. Medium sweet with notes of saccharine and cherries. Light bodied with clean mouthfeel. Some dark rye bread and lingonberries. Low bitterness. Well drinkable despite the not very subtle touch of dextrose.

Dark brown colour. Bubbly light brown head, but quickly fading. Aroma of caramel, malt, coffee. Roasty with some hops flavor, little bit too watery. Bitter finish.
