Lots of yeast floating in the glass. herbal flavors, like Jagermeister. Unbalanced herbal finish assaults the palate. I’m trying to finish this, but each sip turns my stomach. I applaud the effort and will try the rest of the brewer/patriot collection, but this one misses the mark. BückDich (4856), McCall, Idaho, USA

Amber color, no head, light lacing. Nose of sassafrass, wintergreen, no hops or malt. Sweetness is aparent too. A bit barky like cinnamon. The flavor is weird, like drinking cellulose and molasses. Dirty and piney, the finish is sprucy. Odd, not quite like my barqs. Hay and alfalfa! Suttree (2754), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA

Couldn’t they attribute it to one of our less popular ones? "Bennedict Arnolds Traitor Brew", perhaps? It tastes, by the way, exactly as the label suggest it will - licorice, sassafrass, etc. Actually, The Bride suggested Jagermeister, which may be accurate. puzzl (2661), New York, New York, USA

Unfortunately, it is also extremely disgusting, and near undrinkable. The flavors, spices, and intent all show up in spades. The mint and sassafras are unquestiongly there, and are actually very balanced with each other. Hell, it is all quite balanced. It just so happens that it is purely disgusting. Oh well. I appluad their efforts and am happy to have tried the beer. The ginger is next. desurfer (1069), Pinellas Park, Florida, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 5/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 8/20 | Sep 30, 2006 Cloudy copper with tons of yeast floating about. Aroma of, well, root beer. Flavor has notes of black licorice, very sour. Interesting, but I don’t like it. xproudfoot (729), Paleolithic, Pennsylvania, USA

There isn’t any balance. A chaos of crap swirls throughout your mouth and infects everything it touches with vile putrid. I can’t say anything good about this waste of time and taste. Over powering Licorice. Poured it out. 100% offensive.
