COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Samuel Adams Alpine Spring is yet another addition to the brewery’s Small Batch series. For this entry, Sammy & Co used the more traditional labeling. Starting in late October, you’ll see the first of the Small Batch hit the market – Tasman Red, Third Voyage, Griffin’s Bow, The Vixen. (Vixen just won GABF gold.) This unfiltered lager is perfect for spring. Noble Tettnang hops, grown in the foothills of the Alps, give the brew a bright citrus and floral aroma flavor. These are balanced by the slightly sweet crisp notes of two-row pale and honey malts. Cheers! Note - LCBO beer called Samuel Adams Spring Lager is the same product as this

Best by June, 2012 Pours a hazy golden amber with a finger of white foam that falls to a quilt of the same. Nice frosty lace. Smells of grain, hay, some corn. Not getting the citrus everybody seems to be raving about. The flavor is sweet with grain and grass with a little sweetened lemon zest, and some earthy yeast. Mouthfeel is the best aspect of the beer, slightly heavy with moderate carb combines to a velvety, unobtrusive body. Above average, but not that great. Serving type: bottle 02-09-2012

Bottle (Spring Lager) from Rhythm & Booze, Barton upon Humber. Hazy gold, fluffy tight and lasting white head and gentle condition. Slightly yeasty nose with a touch of spicy hop resins, quite sweet in the mouth with some banana fruitiness, a tingle of bitterness and a pronounced yeastiness, finish is again yeast heavy and sweet with some muted lingering hop resin

A: Mildly Hazy Golden Straw Hue, Passes Lots of Light, Mild White Head, Very Minimal Lacing S: Mild Citrus, Mild Malts T: Malty, Mild Oranges, Mild Honey M: Mediocre Carbonation, Light Bodied, Mildly Sweet, Somewhat Watery Overall, an obvious attempt to appease that masses as it is a light lager with not much going on. I miss the Noble Pils...this beer was average.

On tap at Red Robin. A Sam Adams that I would pick over a lot of their other stuff. Clean taste. Just not much of it.

12oz bottle. Pours a hazy golden color with a half inch of white head. Smell is tangerine, grass, clove, and a touch of honey. Taste follows nose with a big zest of pine and lemon in the finish. Light body with moderate carbonation.

Had on-tap at Terry’s Terrace in Michigan. Appearance: A pretty nice looking amber color with a small head that didn’t stick around all that much. The lacing was surprisingly nice though, so that bumps the rating up a tad. Smell: Faint, but it certainly smells like spring. Refreshing, light, and nothing really stands out. Mild hops and floral/leafy smells. Taste: I have a bit of a cold, so it’s hard to give it a completely fair shake, but it’s alright -- nothing mind blowing, but good for the average beer drinker. The floral flavors come out on front, with a very pleasant malt finish. There’s really slight bitterness on this one, if any, and I find it to be a touch on the sweeter side. The feel is smooth with a pretty low carbonation, making this one easy to toss back. Meh. A very average beer. It’s drinkable, and it’s not bad, but there’s nothing to make me want to really have another. Regardless, I WOULD have another to see how it tastes when I’m not a little stuffed up. A respectable seasonal.

some oxidation in the nose. it’s clearly been on the shelf too long. hazy medium gold color. rich head. soft, round malt flavor with minor hop characteristics. this beer is just too old to really represent itself, and i’ll seek out a fresher bottle to re-rate.

Got this in the spring sampler and it is a really nice beer. The beer has citrus aroma and flavor with some floral characteristics as well. They have used a very nice, mellow hop to blend the flavors and it works well.
