COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Samuel Adams Alpine Spring is yet another addition to the brewery’s Small Batch series. For this entry, Sammy & Co used the more traditional labeling. Starting in late October, you’ll see the first of the Small Batch hit the market – Tasman Red, Third Voyage, Griffin’s Bow, The Vixen. (Vixen just won GABF gold.) This unfiltered lager is perfect for spring. Noble Tettnang hops, grown in the foothills of the Alps, give the brew a bright citrus and floral aroma flavor. These are balanced by the slightly sweet crisp notes of two-row pale and honey malts. Cheers! Note - LCBO beer called Samuel Adams Spring Lager is the same product as this

Summer Ale yet it’s a lager. Citrusy aroma and taste. Rather light on the palate like a summer ale. O.k.

Smell of fruits and herbs. Cloudy amber colour, creamy white head. Aroma of lemon, yeast, coriander. Bitter and faintly sour. Very much witbier to it.

Hazy golden orange with a lasting off white head. Mild hop aroma, light sweet malts and a bit of honey notes as well. Smooth wet palatte. A nice pale lager with some flavor.

Yellow gold color and extremely cloudy. Rocky beginning head that takes a long time to dissipate. Leaves plenty of ring lace on the glass. Interesting combination of lighter malts and spicy, cumin-like, hop nose. Rich body with plentiful carbonation. Well balanced with a clean, mildly sour malt start. The hop bitterness is notable but not overpowering. Lightly creamy. Easy to consume more than one.

A good, flavorful lager. Some honey sweetness in this beer with some modest citrusy hops, also. It’s not very complex, but it’s very balanced and highly enjoyable. This is another solid lager in the Samuel Adams canon.

Crisp, bright beer with some piney, floral aroma. Flavor follows this. Quite good for a beer I wasn’t too enthusiastic about before trying. Good spring/summer beer.

Best by June, 2012 Pours a hazy golden amber with a finger of white foam that falls to a quilt of the same. Nice frosty lace. Smells of grain, hay, some corn. Not getting the citrus everybody seems to be raving about. The flavor is sweet with grain and grass with a little sweetened lemon zest, and some earthy yeast. Mouthfeel is the best aspect of the beer, slightly heavy with moderate carb combines to a velvety, unobtrusive body. Above average, but not that great. Serving type: bottle 02-09-2012
