COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Samuel Adams American Kriek: The intense black cherry character in this beer comes from Balaton cherries, which were discovered in Hungary and are now grown in Michigan. These special cherries are prized for their depth of flavor. The tartness from the cherries is balanced by a rich, malty character with toasted oak notes added from the barrel aging.

750 ml bottle from Total Beverage Westminister. Nose is cherries, brown sugar, oaky vanilla hints, and toasted whole wheat bread. Clear rusty red with a big pale pinkish beige head. Flavor is sweetness counterbalanced by mild tartness, woody vanilla, cherries, and white peppery spices. The tartness is not very pronounced otherwise I would rate it higher.

Sampled at Neil’s Rare Stash tasting. Thanks to Matt! Clear amber pour with fair white head and decent retention. Sweet and fake tart red cherry. Massive carbonation, almost the way that infected beers are sometimes. Not all that great.

Pretty weak. Lots of cherries and very drinkable, but not nearly sour enough and not that well balanced. A kriek on training wheels perhaps.

750ml corked and caged bottle (#0821) poured into a Flute at 45°. Color is a deep ruby amber with very active carbonation a a tall head that holds a tight cap. Aroma is a tart cider like scent. It has a lighter medium body with a crisp mouth feel. Flavor comes in tart with a faint cherry taste and a wine like feel, then a pie crust yeast taste comes out. After taste is sweet as it starts to feel a little richer and the cherry show a bit more. Overall its a very good brew. As it warms up to around 50° the flavors start to stand out more making it more complex and cherry pie like.

Bottle. Pours with a hazy red to orange body with a small white head. Aromas are sweet cherry, light wood, a bit of a malty sweetness. Lightly tart. Flavors are tart, pie cherries, sweet biscuity malt, bready and sweet with lasting cherries. Lively carbonation. Decent fruit beer.

750mL funky corked and caged bottle stamped 1091. Pours ruddy, dark orange and red, with a nearly 2-finger pink-tinged head. Aromas of sweet cherry and red berry, tart cherry and cherry stones, sugar, and some oak. The flavor is sweet sugar and cherry, mildly tart, with some bitter grass. This moves to a sweet and tart finish with a lightly oaky character. Low to medium carbonation, medium body, tart, and dry. Alright, although a tad sweet. [892]

Cloudy reddish brown pour light ring of beige head .... aroma of tart cherries and caramel malts ..... taste is of tart cherries and caramel malts with light oak but more of a balanced cherry/malt profile .... finish is dry and simple abv hidden well ..... pretty disappointing
