COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Samuel Adams American Kriek: The intense black cherry character in this beer comes from Balaton cherries, which were discovered in Hungary and are now grown in Michigan. These special cherries are prized for their depth of flavor. The tartness from the cherries is balanced by a rich, malty character with toasted oak notes added from the barrel aging.

Pored into a snifter. Color is Deep red with good frothy head. Great lacing that follows til the end. Nose is a simple Black Cherry. Taste like sweet tarts yet with NO sugar... natural sweetness. Has a clean tartness that leaves you wanting more. the finish is crisp and refreshing, leaves a very wet mouth feel. I was pleasantly surprised by this and would buy it again.... one of the best fruit beers I’ve had. Batch 1040. Shared the bottle with AirForceHops.

bright red, lasting pink head. Metallic sweet cherry, light sugar. Heavily carbonated, syrupy cherry, lightly medicinal and a bit light rochefort 10 in the selzer quality. Odd, fizzy empty finish. Overly sweet, oddly conflicted.

Poured into a tulip. 4.0 A: Hazy dark amber mahogany color. Two and a half fingers of fairly creamy reddish-beige head with average retention and a small ring of lacing. 3.5 S: This one isn’t what I was expecting. Oak is the strongest aroma. Slightly tart cherries next, but not nearly as strong as I’d like. Not complex at all and not even close to funky enough to be the style it claims it is. 3.0 T: Really strange medicinal/artificial taste to this one. It’s both dry and sweet at the same time. No mouth puckering, this isn’t even as tart as the cherries it came from. Woodiness is strong again. 2.5 M: Lighter body. For as much carbonation as it appears to have, this lies dead on the tongue. Not creamy at all and astringent aftertaste. 2.5 D: I wish the bottle wasn’t so big or so expensive. This beer pretty much sucks. Not really anything good about it. Bottle shared by jcwattsrugger, thanks John. Poured a good looking Rose colored thicker bodied with a fuller light beige head. Aroma of cherry flavored apple sauce, apples, sweet cherries and grain. Medium bodied wi average carbonation and an average duration for the aftertaste. Flavor of cherries, graham cracker crust and cinamon. Interesting and solid, good job James.

Dark cherry color pour with a fluffy head. Aroma of light malt and tart cherries. Flavor of tart fruit and yeast. A bit sweet and artificial tasting, but really not bad.

750ml bottle from Julio’s.
Appearance : Clear pink/red with a small head.
Aroma : Lots of cherries, sweet and intense cherries. Not much else.
Taste : Sweet cherries, light astringency. Finish sweet cherries. Note of cherry stones.
Overall : Definitely a fruit beer. Should not call itself a kriek. No sourness nor tartness whatsoever. Taste is more like marasquino cherries than fresh natural cherries. Candy-ish.

toast, citrus, cough drop, amber, medium sweetness, light body, thin feel, lively, the cherry flavor was not quite as strong as some cough syrups I have had but it was rather pleasant and this kreik was light, this is one flavored beer I would recommened to a friend
