COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Samuel Adams American Kriek: The intense black cherry character in this beer comes from Balaton cherries, which were discovered in Hungary and are now grown in Michigan. These special cherries are prized for their depth of flavor. The tartness from the cherries is balanced by a rich, malty character with toasted oak notes added from the barrel aging.

750 ml bottle @ WPBF 2013.
Pours a dark copper pink colour with a white head. Aroma of caramel, cherries and some grass. Flavour of caramel malts, grass, cherries, cardboard and some bitterness. Medium bodied, slick mouthfeel and a slick, cherryish finish. Tastes a bit old. Not at its best anymore.

Aroma of dusty wood, iron, and cherry. Pours dirty brown red with a big thick pink head. Taste is okay with black cherry, oaky funk, and slight ginger. Very off putting. The oak is distracting. I poured it.

Pours a crystal clear deep reddish brown with a long lasting fluffy off white head. Smells of caramel, sour cherries, a bit of yeasty funk and fruity esters. Hints of sweet brown sugar and a touch of balsamic round out the nose. The flavor is really a bit sweet for a wild ale if you asked me. Theres a lot of brown sugary malt sweetness with enough sour cherries to make it a bit different. Medium body with a moderate level of carbonation and a sweet slick mouthfeel. Im not sure what they were going for here, maybe a beginners wild ale? This was good, fairly tasty, but really needed some more tart or funk imho.

750 mil bottle shared by Bruce at Mikes, cool, tulip. Murky brown pink with a thin white rim. Lots of cherries, a little cough syrup, a bit of wood, sweet, maybe a touch estery, not bad. Medium body, gentle effervescence. Pretty strong sweet cherry, cherry pie, a touch medicinal and woodsy, sweet; sweet wish minimal bitterness and a strong cherry, slightly caramel finish.

Bottle shared at the Richmond Industry Gathering. Pours a hazy copper color with a thin creamy off-white head. Decent head retention. Aroma of berries, earth, nutty notes. Mildly tart. GThe taste is earthy, cherries and raisins. Medium bodied. Id agree with fruit beer as the classification here. Not really a kriek, but not bad.

Split a 750ml bottle of this with a bunch of co-workers. Poured a red-pink hue, with a light pink white color. Aroma was cherries, some light brown sugar notes, vanilla oaked notes are there, but quite subtle. Mouthfeel is thin, flavor is sweetness, cherry red notes.
