Samuel Adams New World Tripel: Pale gold in color, this ale is big, flavorful and complex. A special Belgian yeast strain adds tropical fruit and spice notes to the crisp dry ale, while Saaz hops add a subtle herbal note.

Snifter ay Tylers Apex. Good aroma, sweet spice. Candied sugar, clove spice. Banana. Clean copper orange color. Good head that faded to nothing. Minor lace. Sweet spiced flavor. Medium body. Oily creamy mouthfeel., dry spiced finish. Darn good, both in aroma and flavor. Warms up nicely. Nice mix with sweet and spice, banana kicked in when it warmed. Winner

Pour out of 750 mL bottle thanks Jay! Clear orange pour with big fizzy white head, aroma has notes of apple, toffee, pear, some hints of white pepper, biscuit, yeast notes as well. Taste is a nice mix of pear, apple, some slight grainy biscuit, yeast, touch of apple, slight white pepper, finishing fairly sweet. Pretty tasty but a bit unbalanced.

Pours a golden yellow thus clear with a foamy head. Aroma of apples and spiced cinnamon. Taste is malty sweet with a banana sour flavor in the finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

From notes: Poured hazy golden amber with a fluffy, 2-finger white head. Aromas of spice and light citrus mixed with a little yeast funk. Medium-bodied with a very slight syrupy thickness. Flavors of clove and maybe black pepper mixed with a light fruity flavor. Slightly dry finish with some lingering yeast funk. A touch of the wood shows in the finish as well.

With this beer, I return to a familiar lesson: Sam Adams isn’t always mediocre. In the past, I’ve noted a Sam Adams bias. Their broad distribution and bevy of suck beers usually makes me expect the worst. This one teaches otherwise, and even better, I realized that the brewers at Sam Adams probably know that the vast majority of their beer is pretty bad. They’re capable of doing better, as done here. It’s like a message in a bottle saying "see, we can put out good stuff, but most people don’t buy it. Instead, we’re sell outs like Leinenkugals and put out crap 95% of the time because that’s what sells for cheap." New World is a blush red and very bubbly (the high carbonation was not my favorite feature of it), and was very drinkable despite the high abv. Best of all, it had a big summertime herbal-spice flavor. I really enjoy beers like this, when they manage to seamlessly mix the crispness of summer ales with the big bodied flavor of holiday spice ales, all without coming off as synthetic or artificial-fruit-flavory. This is a sipping beer that you’ll want to swish around a while on your taste buds.

ChrisO ’Night Of The Gaylords’ tasting. Oak aged. Clear gold beer. Light soft airy palate. Nice tripel sweet malts with traces of the promised tropical fruit - a little mango, pineapple and other yellow fruits. Finishes soft and dry and fruity.

UPDATED: JUN 6, 2012 Location: Bottle mwmanvt brought home from the Brewery, 6/1/12

Aroma: It has spice on the nose, with some lemon, honey, and yeast
Appearance: This one pours a clear gold color with a foamy white head
Flavor: The flavor is similar to the nose, leading into a spice hop finish
Palate: This one had a soft carbonation, it feels fairly smooth with a solid drinkability to it
Overall Impression: Thanks, Mike! I thought this was a pretty nice offering. It isn’t anything crazy special, but it is more then solid and it drinks pretty nicely.
