750 mL Bottle with a champagne-type cork. Murky deep gold body with a very generous foamy and long-lasting white head that clings to the glass with lots of lace as the beer is sipped. Here we have another Belgian-style with a fruity-spicy aroma: banana and a pineapple sharpness, cookie dough, and cloves accompany the grains and there is the yeastiness and an innuendo of ginger. The flavor is quite bold; banana and pineapple, yeast, an alcohol hotness that is warming and peppery without being harsh, light malts and a wee bit of crystal malt completes the flavor. Grassy-peppery hops come up in the aftertaste without being too bitter and there is a mild Cheddar cheese finish. Mildly peppery yet fairly smooth in the mouth with the obvious: this is a very good craft beer. This is one I’ll have after an afternoon of ice-fishing on a frozen lake. This beer was assayed at cellar temperature.

750 mL bottle from the brewery, served in a branded pint glass. Pours cloudy orange-golden with a tall, frothy white head. The head fades slowly and leaves a moderate amount of fine lace. On the nose, there are notes of nutmeg and spice, flowers, tropical fruit, pale malts and herbs. The flavour is slightly sweet, with toasted malts, nutmeg and spicy notes. It dries out towards the finish, which is long, dry and spicy. On the palate, it is medium-full in body with a smooth, creamy texture and soft carbonation. Overall, this is a nice, thick creamy tripel. It has a soft spicy quality that complements the malts nicely. Not as complex as it could be, but respectable nonetheless. 2011-11-26

RolkaNation (141) - Atlanta, Georgia, USA - DEC 12, 2011
Bottle poured into tulip. Attractive golden color, clear, well carbonated, ample fluffy head. Nice, pleasant tripel-reminiscent aroma of banana, spice, Belgian yeast, light toasted bread crust, tropical fruits, hint of vanilla. Not overpowering. Soft and subdued on the palate, slightly sticky, quick finish. Taste is very good with more tropical fruit, spice, hints of orange marmalade and bubblegum, and booze. Strong and tasty. Despite not picking up any of the oak from the barrel aging, a very well made tripel overall. Complex, balanced, and flavorful.

RSRIZZO (1850) - Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA - DEC 10, 2011
750ml bottle poured into a Trappist glass at 40°. Color is a slightly hazy golden orange with good carbonation and a nice soft white head. Aroma of yeast and spice with a light sour note in back. It has a lighter medium body that goes down with a fizzy mouth feel. Flavor of apple and pear, with a hint of orange and then Belgian yeast, pepper and spice. After taste is slightly dry with a touch of oak coming out and a sweetness that jumps in right at the end. Wow, overall I think its one of the better Tripels I’ve had, it has great flavors and is nicely balanced.

Unique bottle. Corked and caged. 750mL, BRC. Pours orange, golden color. Thick foam, of big off-white bubbles. Aroma of tropic fruit for sure, loads of pineapple. Herbal nose with a touch of vanilla\oak character. All this just from the cork! Aroma in the glass is floral and has honey and golden raisin. Creamy body, heavy. Tastes of raisin puree, tropical fruit, some spice, lime leaves, peach & pear, and a touch of vanilla and oak. The thickness of the beer is most captivating. Overall, WOW, and worth every penny.

UPDATED: JAN 3, 2014 Bottle from LCBO. Pale golden pour with a tght whote head. Fairly high carbonation. The aroma has a very light spicy aroma along with lots of light peppery spice. The barrel adds a distinct toasted butterscotch note along with a little bit of cotton candy. Quite Duvel-esque yeast character along with a fairly pronounced spicy hop character as well. Herbal and zesty hops along with a very dry lingering minerally bitterness on the finish. There is a light bit of cotton candy on the back of the palate. There is a fairly lovely freshness along with a nice lingering fruitiness. Minerally finish and a very lean body - this is damn tasty stuff.

Deep golden pour with a thick white head. The aroma is amazing - fruity tropical hop aroma with a bit of kiwi, peach, pear, papaya, mint and a bit of soft herbal spice. Fresh and fruity with notes of Brettanomyces and a bit of clean pale malt. Has a bit of peppery character along with a touch of lingering sweetness. Bright and fruity.
