Samuel Adams New World Tripel: Pale gold in color, this ale is big, flavorful and complex. A special Belgian yeast strain adds tropical fruit and spice notes to the crisp dry ale, while Saaz hops add a subtle herbal note.

With this beer, I return to a familiar lesson: Sam Adams isnít always mediocre. In the past, Iíve noted a Sam Adams bias. Their broad distribution and bevy of suck beers usually makes me expect the worst. This one teaches otherwise, and even better, I realized that the brewers at Sam Adams probably know that the vast majority of their beer is pretty bad. Theyíre capable of doing better, as done here. Itís like a message in a bottle saying "see, we can put out good stuff, but most people donít buy it. Instead, weíre sell outs like Leinenkugals and put out crap 95% of the time because thatís what sells for cheap." New World is a blush red and very bubbly (the high carbonation was not my favorite feature of it), and was very drinkable despite the high abv. Best of all, it had a big summertime herbal-spice flavor. I really enjoy beers like this, when they manage to seamlessly mix the crispness of summer ales with the big bodied flavor of holiday spice ales, all without coming off as synthetic or artificial-fruit-flavory. This is a sipping beer that youíll want to swish around a while on your taste buds.

ChrisO íNight Of The Gaylordsí tasting. Oak aged. Clear gold beer. Light soft airy palate. Nice tripel sweet malts with traces of the promised tropical fruit - a little mango, pineapple and other yellow fruits. Finishes soft and dry and fruity.

UPDATED: JUN 6, 2012 Location: Bottle mwmanvt brought home from the Brewery, 6/1/12

Aroma: It has spice on the nose, with some lemon, honey, and yeast
Appearance: This one pours a clear gold color with a foamy white head
Flavor: The flavor is similar to the nose, leading into a spice hop finish
Palate: This one had a soft carbonation, it feels fairly smooth with a solid drinkability to it
Overall Impression: Thanks, Mike! I thought this was a pretty nice offering. It isnít anything crazy special, but it is more then solid and it drinks pretty nicely.

Draft @ redlight redlight. Banana & clove esters on the nose. Pours clear gold with a thin white head. Sweet malts upfront with spicy notes and bready malts. Not bad

On tap at Liquor Loft. Faint banana and pale malt aroma. Tastes are belgian yeast, spices, banana. Happens quick and leaves dry, spice, tinny finish. Nothing crazy complex, but good and drinkable.

Tallahassee, Fl - on tap at Proof. Light golden pour, frothy white head. Aroma has some bubble gum accents, a hint of cloves. Flavor reminds me of gumdrops, some candied sugar notes, a hint of licorice, brief citrus flourish. Smooth mouthfeel. In my humble opinion SA should stay away from the Belgian styles - none of these have knocked my socks off.

Not any head on the tap pour and the appearance is lacking with just a light golden orange color. Fruity aroma that hits the bready, wheaty triple style.

Draft at stub & herbs. Strong aroma with distinct sweet Belgian qualities. Clear dark gold body with virtually no head. Really good flavor. Nails the tripel style. Alcohol is somewhat hidden. Impressive.
