Samuel Adams New World Tripel: Pale gold in color, this ale is big, flavorful and complex. A special Belgian yeast strain adds tropical fruit and spice notes to the crisp dry ale, while Saaz hops add a subtle herbal note.

Pours a dark cloudy yellow with a big white head. Foam lasts a while but eventually melts into a ring. Smell is very fruity. Reminiscent of fruit cocktail. Taste is also sweet and fruity with an unusual finish. Out of place. Maybe a spice? Nice palate and carbonation. Overall a nice beer. Great effort by Sam Adams folks. But there are a lot of better Tripels out there.

Pours to huge head with great lacing. Aroma has some nice dark fruits with pepper and spice, but also a bit earthy. Flavor is like the aroma - peppery, spicy, dark fruits, and a noticeable alcohol burn in the finish. Sturdy-bodied. Nice tripel.

Not quite what I thought a barrel aged tripel would taste like. A little fruitier than I expected.

Bottle: Poured a hazy golden color ale with a nice big foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of tropical fruit is quite dominant with some sweet Belgian malt notes. Taste is really dominated by some notes of tropical fruit with some notes of Belgian malt with light candi sugar notes. Body is about average with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Not bad but too much tropical fruit for my own taste – kind of hard to figure out this was a tripel.

pours golden with a big foamy head.very little lacing around my trappist glass.aroma is malty with banana, bubblegum.lemon zest and the oak is not as present as i though it would be.flavor is a little peppery with bubblegum coriander, banana and mango.full body with moderate carbonation and a slight bitter finish that ends with a hint of oak.pretty good triple but the oak is not as present as it should be.almost none in the aroma and the oak seems to be more noticable in the finish.overall its solid

Pours a slightly hazy golden with a huge eggwhite head due to the very active carbonation. Aroma is citrus and coriander. Taste is sweet pale malt along with a little fruit juice tartness and spice. Somewhat cloying with alcohol warmth after the swallow. I like!

tap at Brewhaven festival - This hazy golden brew has an assertive aroma of Belgian yeast and bananas. The flavor is a good balance of sweet malt and hops bitterness with gentle spice and banana notes. It’s medium bodied and overall a very good brew.

Had this at the 2012 Twin Cities Beer Festival. Nice sour lemon/bubblegum scent and flavors.

Fancy 750ml bottle pours a hazy golden color with a big off-white head but practically no lacing. Smells of bananas, cloves, and Belgian yeast. Aroma is pretty much the same, with lots of lemon, and honey, but practically no oak. Body is medium. Mouthfeel is lively, due to carbonation. Taste is sweet at first with a sour finish. Overall very good, but I’ve had better, less expensive tripels without the hype of this one.
