Samuel Adams New World Tripel: Pale gold in color, this ale is big, flavorful and complex. A special Belgian yeast strain adds tropical fruit and spice notes to the crisp dry ale, while Saaz hops add a subtle herbal note.

Pours a crystal clear medium gold with a tall, semi-creamy eggshell head that has great retention and leaves decent lacing. Aroma is sweet malt, toast, cereal grain, lots of fruit, mostly stone fruit notes, some citrus, lots of peppery and coriander spice, a pretty decent amount of alcohol. Flavor is big spicy yeast up front, followed by some stone fruit, dark fruit, clove, anise, pepper, coriander, booziness and raisin. Finishes with lingering yeasty spice, spicy and earthy hops and alcohols. Palate is medium to heavy body with a slick-but dry, boozy feel, moderate strength, blanketing and sharp carbonation and more alcohol burn than it can carry. Overall it’s a bit of an overly yeasty, hot, boozy mess, but it’s still passable.

Caged corked bomber into snifter glass, clear golden amber color with plentiful light tan head. Aroma notes of malt sweetness, tropical fruitiness, light Belgian yeast funk and tad oak. Taste adds green apple, light Belgian yeast spices, some more oak, vanilla and caramel. Medium-heavy body, moderate-heavy carbonation, dry, lively with light oak/fruit finish. A pretty solid tripel, maybe a tad on the flavor light/boozy side.

Dark yellow color. Actually nice Belgian trippel. Normally I don't like this type of beer, but this one has enough spice and thickness that I like it. 10%. Nice hearty brew.

Bottle @ Fresh Thyme / Newport KY --- Aroma of malt and fruit. Hazy medium amber color, white frothy head, bands and blobs of lace. Taste is malt and spice with fruit that sweeps through a medium carbonated swallow on the way to light hops, followed by more spice. Big, heavy in the belly, works well, but not great.

From the bottle shared with friends at poker. Pretty nice triple. Lots of fruit and some malty sweetness.

Sweet, sour and malty aromas are all present. Nice deep amber color. Has a bitter but nice flavor up front, with a smooth after taste that's not too strong or bitter.

Total Wine somewhere in Fairfax: light amber with a frothy pretty white head. Aroma is citrus, tropical fruits, and some tree. Taste is kind of sweet. Bourbon barrel is most definitely present but it does not overwhelm the beer. Alcohol is not overwhelming. Not bad.

Bought this at a specialty beer shop and it was a good choice! Pours a dark golden color with a fluffy offwhite head that had some rather impressive staying power with some lacing. Smells of apple, yeast and some kind of tropical fruit. Tastes very strongly of Belgian style yeast with tropical fruit and oddly enough I swear there was a hint of bubble gum. Just a dahs of vanilla as well. Mouthfeel is heavy, a bit like watered down motor oil which is a hallmark for a fine beer. This kind of specialty beer is exactly why brand loyalty is so difficult for a complex person like me to keep! Samuel Adams hit a home run with this one!
