Bottle: Deep deep amber, redidsh hue, thin tannish head, little lacing. Immature cherry and oak on the nose. Certainly smells entertaining! Not as dry, tart, sweet, or vibrant on the tongue. Comes across as very much muted, with soft immature cherry and only with a touch of wood (oak). Smells much better than it comes across on the tongue. Not as dry or tart as the nose suggested either. Damnit, the aroma was so misleading. Body and mouthfeel are moderate. Flat finish, not puckering, fruity, dry, tart, nothing... just kinda falls apart on the finish. Damnit... this could be so much more!!!

750 ml barrel-shaped bottle. Pours almost clear brilliant amber with a large beige head that reduces to a finger-width after a minute or two. Aroma consists of dark fruit, vinegar, barnyard, oak, raisins. Taste is nice and tart, but not quite mouth-puckering. Has a somewhat watery mouthfeel. Really good if not fantastic. I wonder what a few years in the cellar would do to it.

has a great aroma, a bit fruity, faint alcohol. Dark brown. Interesting taste. Has a dark fruit taste, molasses, raisen. Hint of some alcohol. A thicker body would have complimented this brew nice.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 pras (283) - Maryland, USA - OCT 20, 2012
UPDATED: NOV 22, 2012 Was expecting more from this. Don’t get me wrong, it was good, just not what I had hoped for. Redish color. Nose of cherry and other fruits. Taste is more fruit, most notably cherry, lots of oak, tartness, very dry. I guess my main complaint is that I would have liked it to be more tart.

Amber colour, small head. Aroma is mild wood along with some slight sourness and tartness. Rather nice aroma. Flavour is fruits, some sour wood, mild caramel malts and some rather tart notes as well. Quite close to some Belgian sours

Clear reddish-brown with an off-white head. Aroma of cherry, wood, and vanilla. Taste is not nearly as sweet as I though it would be. It’s more woody and semi-sour. Medium bodied, a little dry. It’s decent.

Great beer from Sam Adams!! Deep amber pour. Nose is balsamic, soy, tart cherries and sweet/sour dark fruit. Flavor follows with light sour, balsamic (sweet and tart), sour vinegar. Great overall. Lighter body, and enjoyable. Great beer!!

750mL bottle. Poured warm, reddish-amber with a well-retained beige head and quite a bit of rising carbonation. The aroma picked up tart cherry vinegar and oak, with spicy fruits, peppery warmth, and floral notes around.. warm bourbon barrel feel on the back of the nose, sans the bourbon if ya know what I mean. The flavor opened with moderately tart cherries, oak, and some dark fruit skins.. meaty fruit and a touch of biscuity character at the core.. dry, tart finish with peppery spices, dark fruit skins, and oak. Medium-bodied and well-carbonated on the palate.. moderately tart throughout (which was just the right level).. well-balanced and complex, yet clean. This was very good.

Pours a deep reddish brown. Quickly receding head. Aroma of oak, red fruit, cocoa, berries. Tastes winey, strong oak, light vanilla, red plums, good acidity, hoppy finish. The oak is a bit overpowering. In the style of a Flander’s Red Ale.
