3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle as shown. Pour a cloudy amber and ruby hue with thin beige head that diminishes quickly. The aroma is earthy malt and fruit. Medium mouthfeel with a tangy fruit malt and tart with oak and nice lingering dry finish. A good sour ale.

Very beautiful reddish brown color with white head. Not much on the nose. Taste is that of malt, wine and very faint oak. Mouthfeel is medium with some carbonation. Decent overall.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours brownish-red. A tad of cherry medicine aroma. Medium bodied. Decent drinkability. It seems to be an understated balanced out Flanderís Red. Very woody in the finish. Not complex and not exceptionally interesting. Bottle found in a Maine bottle shop.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
750 ml bottle C&C. Pours a dark red-brown color with a small beige head that fades to a fine ring around the glass. The aroma is tart with cherries, currants, tannin and oak. The taste resembles the nose, lots of tart cherries, berries, oak, black walnuts and some port wine. The malt base is fairly neutral with a bit of dry biscuit which lends a nice touch that accentuates the berries and oak quite well. The palate is full and smooth with soft carbonation. Finishes long and dry with lingering sour cherries. Overall: I loved it, not nearly as sour as I would have preferred, but there is no doubt about its sour intentions and they are nicely balanced and make this quite approachable. Perhaps the best San Adams Iíve sampled. Compares to the Rodenbach reds.

Bottle. Pours reddish brown with thick off white head. Aroma of sour cherries, oak, and light vinegar. Flavor is tart and sour. Good mouthfeel. More fruity than sour but pretty good. Surprised at 9%. Drinks lighter.

4.8 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Wow I am loving this. A nice sour flavor that isnít too sweet. A bit of stickiness to this that is nice. I would buy this again in a second. The best Sam Adams in a while.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Like many people out there, Iíve been on a bit of a sour kick lately. Most that Iíve tasted have been really solid and I was anxiously awaiting tasting this offering from Sam Adams. Surprisingly, this just really missed the mark for me. The weight and texture of the beer just seemed to be off. The tart fruits were present but seemed to not pop. Muted and lackluster. I like Flemish beers but this is just not a great example from my point of view. Low marks. The bottles in this series are awesome though.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
(750ml bottle) cloudy brown-ruby, lasting light tan head of fine bubbles. Nose of oak, cranberry, light vinous, caramel, red grapes, other dark dried fruit, lightly tannic. Taste of lightly toasted oak, cranberry, wet wood, very drinkable and pretty good!

3.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
When I saw a Sam Adams bottle with a cork in it, then saw it was a sour ale I thought it was going to be terrible. It wasnít. Aroma was so so. Roasted malt, spices and sour cherry. Pour was a nice dark amber/light brown with a thin off white ring for a head. Taste was good for a mass produced beer. Strong vinegar, cherry and yeast flavors bite the sides of the mouth and prickle going down the throat. Nice strong carbonation creates a nice finish that leaves the mouth sour and acidic. Hides the alcohol perfectly. Good job
