Black. Small, beige head. Aroma: Raisins, Chocolate. Flavor: Strong raisin, dark chocolate malt, spice, cherries, alcahol. Syrupy. Espresso Finish. This has a very strong flavor, even for a high gravity stout, in fact somewhat too much. Yet it doesnt cover up the alcahol. Its very good but not the most drinkable Sam I have had.

750ml bottle. Clear dark brown with a foamy light tan head. Aroma of chocolate, spicy esters, vanilla and slight vinegar. Flavor is cocoa, zesty spice, plum, dark fruit, alcohol and a light tartness. Medium body with a fairly thin mouth feel. Ok beer, seems kind of all over the place and the flavors clash a bit.

A great stout! Pours a syrupy black with a light brown head. Smells awesome, like chocolate and fruit. Taste is like chocolate covered raspberries, with a little bit of coffee. Very good! Had in the bottle (which looks awesome by the way). ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Aroma has grainy notes, berries and some roasted malt. Flavour has some cocoa, soy sauce and salty licorice. Quite thin for an IS. A disappointment.

750 ml bottle @ WPBF 2013.
Pours a dark brown, almost black colour with a white head. Aroma of roasted malts, cream and some coffee. Flavour of roasted malts, coffee, cream, some tart fruitiness and grassy hops. Yeast as well. Medium bodied, slick mouthfeel and soft carbonation. Rather simple for an imperial stout.

25.4 / 750mL bottle poured into a tulip glass slowly and gently. Served cool. Aroma: Smells pretty boozy; definite alcohol smell. Behind that, dark fruit. Raisins/currants. Coffee grounds. Dark bittersweet chocolate. They all blend together exceptionally well. Appearance: Opaque dark brown, with a cola-like head; the color and fizziness and lack of retention all remind me of cola. Before it fizzes down though, it is quite creamy-looking. Taste: Wow. Where to start...Some raisins, definitely. A nice spice package that reminds me of some Belgian ales Ive had. Ends one some delightfully velvety smooth and bittersweet chocolate. Palate: Full body. Warms. Coats. Lingers. Somewhat fizzy on arrival. Overall: Actually a really fantastic beer. I wasnt expecting the spice in this one, and it really played well with the other flavors. Pleasant surprise! Would definitely drink again and recommend.

Hophead22 (2879) - Redlands, by way of Wisconsin,, California, USA - APR 23, 2013
750ml bottle. Rating #268. Mostly solid black in color, but I seem to detect just the tiniest bit of brown around the edges, head was a little thin and light beige in color. Fruity aroma, light chocolate and a very mild roast. Tart and a bit more fruit and a little sweet. Not a big fan really. (2705)

Pours dark brown with a light tan head. Aroma is slightly sour, Belgian yeast, chocolate and oak. Taste is a mix between a stout and quad.
