Bottle - Vintage 2012 - Brown sugar and dark fruits. Cloudy jet brown with a thin brown head. Not an imperial stout this is a Belgian strong. A great Belgian but an imperial stout this isnít. Horribly miss labeled but good as a Belgian.

It all works. Raisin, date and oak notes. Musty aroma. Kandi Sugar all over the place. Works well with beef, not sushi. NIce!

2013-09-01. Very dark brown body with a large creamy head. Aroma is pleasantly fruity with a lightly vinous quality to it. 7+ Flavour is similarly fruity, sweet up front then a bit sour and tangy. Whispers of sweet chocolate touches. Very smooth average plus bodied palate, soft carbonation. Enjoyable. Bottle shared by a friend at board games night. Thanks Dave!

Bottle shared by badnewsbeers. Deep sanguine body, thick beige head. Lots of dark fruit and red grape in the marshmallowy, sweet nose. The body reminds me more of a mulled cider, with lots of apple and spice. Strange; OK.

Dark red pour with a tan head. The aroma is full of dark fruit, toffee and cocoa. The flavor has some cocoa notes as well as some light roasted malt, Belgian yeast and dark fruit. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

Dark brown with a tan head. Aroma is fruity, similar to a full bodied red wine. Flavor is also more fruit than I expected. Very tart and sweet. Votive the chocolate underneath the fruit.

Pours a deep dark brown, almost black. A thin brown head. Aroma of coffee or roasted nut. Tastes of dark fruits, plums, dates. Alcohol is very present. Has a bit of a bite! Sam Adams has another winner. A solid brew.

Bottle. Dark brown in color with a thick tan head. Funky nose with notes of chocolate, molasses, cherry and light spice. Flavor starts funky and tart, but quickly moves to cherry, caramel and molasses before finishing with accents roasted malt, chocolate and vanilla. Very complex, and pretty solid overall.

750ml bottle - $9.99 at Bullockís Wine & Spirits in Marietta, Georgia.

Appearance: Pours a dark brown, near black body with an initially tall, foamy beige head. Essentially no lacing.

Smell: Dark fruitiness (raisin, black cherry, plum), darkish not-so-bitter chocolate hints, a little basic coffee roastiness. Spicy touches of pepper, muted clove. Subtle oak hints. A bit more yeast noted in the nose than in the flavor (the sweetness is to blame there).

Taste: Roasted maltiness, also some toasty, coffee-accented notes as well as some dark chocolate. Slight dark rum vibe as the approaching dark fruitiness sets in and a distinct sweet & sour quality takes hold. Further raisin and pepper. Stays rather fruity and still considerably sweet on the back half obscured some light qualities of oak, yeast. Sweet (candyish nearly), fruity finish.

Mouthfeel: Medium-plus body. Medium-plus carbonation. Slight slick, tongue-coating action.

Overall: Displays a staunch fruitiness with a bit more sweetness than desired, Iíd prefer a touch less sweetness and still a hair more carbonation.
