3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours dark brown-red with a big, fluffy light brown head. Aroma is dark fruit, spice, vanilla, Belgian yeast, and some surprising chocolate and coffee notes. Taste is fruity, caramel, vanilla, chocolate, coffee, spice and of course, Belgian yeast. Nice carbonation lends itself to both a lot of the aromatics and also a nice medium bodied mouth feel. Complex and expertly balanced. I was initial reluctant to try this but I am sold, This is a pretty extraordinary beer.

Awesome Belgian spiciness. I don't get any of the coffee notes promised on the bottle and the mouthfeel is a bit thin for an imperial IMO, but an awesome beer overall!

Pours jet black with a thin mocha head, appears thin. Aroma of funky yeast, tart fruit and malt. Taste is funky yeast, wine, oak and bananas and chocolate. Very thin and a bit overcarbonated. Not great.

UPDATED: JAN 8, 2013 Bottle from giant eagle near Ty. Cork is good start. Mild sharp champagne like nose. Robust roasted coffee notes in the middle at the start. They linger as well. Notes of dark raisin and spice mixed in. Good smooth solid finish, leaving your mouth happy. First barrel room beer I’ve had and ill be back. The 9% creeps up on you too. ---Rated via my mouth

Bottle from local store. Nice dark color. Oak, molasses and chocolate. Mouthfeel was a bit thin to me along with carbonation. It was bad, just different than other imply stouts. Alcohol was hidden. Bitter aftertaste

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours dark brown with a small tan head. The aroma has dark toffee, sweetness, Belgian yeast, smooth coffee and date/fig style dark fruits. It has a smooth thick body with some subdued soft carbonation. The flavor begins with dark toffee, oak, vanilla, coffee, sweet Belgian notes and dark fruit. The finish has heavy dark fruits and more coffee. Well done.

Large unique bottle from Capone’s, the volume of which I am uncertain. Poured hazy dark brown toward black with a complex nose of roasty malkt, cacao, figgy fruit, and yeasty spice. Tasted as it smelled, complex, with the malt and yeasty cobwebby esters taking the forefront.

Not bad, but certainly not as good as Rogue Imperial Stout. Still, looks and smells good. Cool bottle.
