Cool looking 750mL corked and caged bottle pours mahogany with thin tan head of foam. The aroma offers up modest levels of sour and wild yeast notes with a faint sense of malt roastiness in the background. The taste at first seemed odd and not what I was expecting. After only the second quaff it grew on me with a mix of chocolate, modest red wine tartness and a mild sense of sour notes and spicy oak. This is really coming together for me. Cool stuff.

Pours brown with a light brown head. Aroma of toffee, raisin, chocolate, port, and licorice. Flavor follows suit with a balance of dark berry and raisin flavors with dark chocolate, subtle coffee, and toffee malt. Itís held together by a spicy, fruity yeast character. Finishes with only a subtle roastiness, mild bitterness, but thereís a nice vanilla oaky flavor that envelopes the throat like many barrel aged beers do, just more subtle. Medium-heavy bodied with carbonation on the higher side. Good beer, Iím pleased with the flavor balance and use of Belgian yeast. There arent too many "Belgian stouts" that I really love, but this one strikes a nice balance to me.

750ml caged and corked bottle. Poured a brown color with an averaged sized off white head. Aromas of earthy, chocolate, some dark fruits and Iím getting a trace of cinnamon. Tastes of chocolate, vanilla, roast, and the same trace of cinnamon.

Disappointed. Sam Adams is the consistent failure of microbrews and this one is no different. Bland and dry. Almost gross. Like the color and it looked good on the label but I hate this one. Sam Adams always disappoints me.

This beer is not a stout. If you get this expecting a stout it will dissapoint you. However, it is very fruity with a coffee aftertaste. The alcohol is well hidden. Also, the beer has a very tart feel to it. I drank another one of the barrel age collections that was fruity and tart, and it seems like this batch of stout came from the same barrel. This has a very similar tart experience as the other but not as strong. Decent brew, but I wouldnít buy it again for the price. I will keep the bottle and brew my own imperial stout and enjoy that.

Fancy 750ml bottle pours a very dark ruby brown with small tan head and no lacing. Aroma is an interesting mix of dark cherries, cinammon, prunes, chocolate, vanilla and perhaps oak. Taste is sweet and slightly spicy with some alcohol in the finish. Mouthfeel is sticky, body is full, and carbonation is minimal. Not what I was expecting from an Imperial Stout, but actually quite good.

Bottle. The look is brownish dark color, ok beige colored head, and somewhat dark but clear look. The smell is spiced, heavy, cinnamon, chocolate, coffee, and too spiced. The taste is spiced, sweet, yeast, tart, fruit, and chocolate.

750ml bottle: pours a mostly opaque black with a creamy froth of beige head. Has a sweet dark chocolate and biscuity malty nose with a hint of dark fruits. Body starts with pretty good fullness and light carbonation with plenty of sweet dark caramel and notes of milk chocolate and bittering hop balance. Finishes smooth and bittersweet. Could be a little more complex, but is dangerously drinkable.

Serving: 750 ml. bottle from State Line Liquors. It pours a very dark brown with ruddy highlights. The nose has notes of spice, Belgian yeast, and a touch of stewed apple. Dark caramel malt with roasted pear and apple, a touch of cinnamon, and slight yeast notes on the tongue. Light vanilla on the back end. Decent flavor and fairly complex. Nice work Sam.
