4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Itís dark chocolate brown with plum tones and a modest amount of tan head which settles fairly quickly. Aromas or caramel, booze, some dark pit fruit, like cherry or plum. Tastes sort of like a tripel but with a little roasty bitterness and some burnt dark sugar and notes of syrupy fruit. I guess the oak is lost on me, but I sat on this for a few months so maybe thatís got something to do with it ?? Soft carbonation and full flavored. If this was a blind tasting Iím pretty sure I wouldnít think his was a stout, but itís still delicious. Iíve had 3 beers in this collection and I have to say, I am a fan of the concept and itís great to see how each builds upon the mother brew.

Pours a nice dark color almost coffee like. Big light brown head that seems a bit frothy

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
750 ml bottle into snifter, 2012 release. Pours fairly pitch black color with a 1 finger dense and fluffy khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with some light streaming carbonation. Aromas of raisin, tart cherry, prune, chocolate, oak, coffee, pepper, clove, toast, roasted malt, light funk, and yeast earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of malt, oak, and yeast ester notes. Taste of raisin, cherry, prune, pear, chocolate, light coffee, roasted malt, oak, floral, pepper, light clove, toast, herbal, and yeast earthiness. Lightly tart fruitiness on the finish; with lingering notes of dark fruits, chocolate, light coffee, oak, floral, clove, herbal, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Good balance and complexity of malt flavor with fruity/spicy yeast esters; with stronger fruitiness over roasted flavors and zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a fairly creamy, slick, and lightly crisp mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a small warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a very good Belgian stout style. Good balance and complexity of roasted flavor with fruity/spicy esters; and very smooth to sip on. This was not nearly as robust as I was hoping for considering the style, but it was still a nicely enjoyable offering.

Absolutely terrible, couldnít finish. Had zero body and tasted like raisin soda. Not even a hint of malts, hops or coffee.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours dark with a lot of fine bubbles similar to the other barrel rooms beers but not as intense or effervescent. Tastes like a stout with chocolate, dark malts, coffee and a sweetness. Also some spice but I donít recall any oak. But unlike a stout it has that essence of Belgian. Most of the acid that was in the other barrel room beers is missing or muted.

This is a crazy one. It pours and drinks like coke. It smells very caramelly and brown sugary. One of the best noses Iíve had. The taste is similar to the nose with a little fruity and a lot of effervescence.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
This is very very belgian! As far as imperial stouts go this is similar in flavor but thatís about it. Pours a very effervescent black. White head that fades fast. Aroma is belgian. Fruity with a lot of brown sugar and grape. Flavor is malty and sweet with a lot of sugarcane and a hint of coffee. Itís extremely carbonated which I was not expecting because the bottle says imperial stout... This is a great beer. A little more belgian than stout I think, but great nonetheless.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Interesting hybrid. I would call this a stout-inspired quad. The Belgian notes are all there: carbonation, fruit, and spiciness. A bit of bourbon from the aging. Added to this is some hints of stout notes, chocolate, coffee, roastiness, and so on. Mouthfeel is Belgian all the way, not thick or heavy like you'd expect in a comparable ABV stout. As a quad, it's pretty good, but I wouldn't go into this expecting a stout, regardless of what the label says.
