3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 SDalkoholic (1769) - Chula Vista, California, USA - FEB 1, 2013Bottle from South Bay Liquor: Poured a dark black stout with a thick development of foam head which eventually retreated. Aroma is surprisingly faint with all traces of this being an impy stout have been erased from the barrel aging process, however, the oak barrels are the only noticeable smell I gain through my nose. The drink is harsh with a stinging taste of tart tannins while a semi-sweet sugary taste of malts and slight burn from the alcohol finish this beer on a wrong note. Maybe it has too many months on the shelf since this was released awhile ago and hasn’t had the most ideal bottle aging conditions but this is my current standing.

Holy infected garbage, bros. This one poured very light and thin for a impy stout. It had a sour twang to it as well, leading me to believe it was infected. Pounded the entire 750ml in 1 minute 33 seconds. Hers the pics:

Nice funky and tart sort of stout with citrus, oak, spice, and cocoa, not a bad beer but too played up by Sam Adams.
4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 20/20 seymour (1099) - Saint Louis, Missouri, USA - MAY 11, 2013
Sampled from a tall corked bottle into a mini tulip glass at CarterFest 2013. It poured a deep mahogany colour with huge fluffy beige foam and lots of Belgian lace. Strong aromas and flavours of grains, toast, roasted malts, dark stone fruits, black pepper, clove, and other intense Belgian yeast aspects, Brett tartness. Barn-yardy in a good way. Somehow candy-sweet with a super dry finish. Medium body, lighter than most "Imperial Stouts" because of the high-attenuating multi-strain yeasts. Strong carbonation, crisp and well-rounded mouthfeel. Many of the familiar stout characteristics AND Belgian strong ale characteristics. Outrageously complex, the best of both worlds. Delicious, and probably one of my all-time favourite beers.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 13/20 AndyW68 (394) - Louisville, Kentucky, USA - MAY 11, 2013
Deep dark brown with tan head. aroma is raisins, plum and maybe a little chocolate. Taste is raisin, plum, cocoa and tart. Has a chalky feel to the finish.
3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 astrofrk (330) - Knoxville, Tennessee, USA - MAY 10, 2013
Black. Small, beige head. Aroma: Raisins, Chocolate. Flavor: Strong raisin, dark chocolate malt, spice, cherries, alcahol. Syrupy. Espresso Finish.
This has a very strong flavor, even for a high gravity stout, in fact somewhat too much. Yet it doesn’t cover up the alcahol. It’s very good but not the most drinkable Sam I have had.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 savnac (2056) - Anchorage, Alaska, USA - MAY 7, 2013
750ml bottle. Clear dark brown with a foamy light tan head. Aroma of chocolate, spicy esters, vanilla and slight vinegar. Flavor is cocoa, zesty spice, plum, dark fruit, alcohol and a light tartness. Medium body with a fairly thin mouth feel. Ok beer, seems kind of all over the place and the flavors clash a bit.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 monk191 (370) - California, USA - APR 28, 2013
A great stout! Pours a syrupy black with a light brown head. Smells awesome, like chocolate and fruit. Taste is like chocolate covered raspberries, with a little bit of coffee. Very good! Had in the bottle (which looks awesome by the way).

Aroma has grainy notes, berries and some roasted malt. Flavour has some cocoa, soy sauce and salty licorice. Quite thin for an IS. A disappointment.
