Draft at Churchkey’s 5th anniversary, courtesy of Bryan’s friend and Eric, thanks! Opaque dark brown color, bright tan head. Aroma of lightly funky coffee. Taste is cocoa, coffee, just enough of a touch of funk to be noticeable but not overwhelming. Light body. Nice one.

Bottle, 75cl corked. A dark brown beer topped by a small, beige head. Perhaps a bit weak aroma, with raisins, dried figs, some chocolate and roasted malts. Some funky, spiced notes too. It’s full-bodied, soft and lightly warming on the palate, with flavors of raisins, dried figs, some brown sugar and roasted malts, and a little touch of chocolate. Nice carbonation level and bitterness that suits the sweetness. Lasting finish. Perhaps a bit too subtle this one, but at least it drinks easy. 150612

Dark ruby color, small brown head. Papery malty, slightly toasted aroma. Medium-bodied. Sweetish, chocolate, a bit tart maybe. Thinnish for this ABV.

Dark brown pour with tan head. Sweet brown sugar, molasses, and chocolate on the nose. A bit of vanilla, roasted malt, coffee, lots of dark fruits, and an interesting banana note. The flavor is pleasantly sweet with good vanilla, dark fruit, and sugar notes. Some banana, coffee, mild roasted malt, chocolate, spices, and a subtle tartness of plum on the finish.

750 c&c from BevMo in Folsom, CA. Pours very dark brown with a foamy/fizzy light tan head. Aromas of yeast/spice, cacao, and wood. Med body or better. Flavor has yeast/spice, dark fruit, dark chocolate, espresso. It’s very "fresh". Finishes with coffee bitterness. And with oaky astringency. Don’t think there’s any booze associated with the oak. Seem purely oak. Which is ok. A mild and flavorful beer which provides no hint of a 9% ABV. Likely to be deadly drinkable.

Bottle. Poured a dark brown color with a minimal frothy light brown head that diminished with little lacing. Moderate to heavy dark fruit, chocolate and coffee aroma. Nedium to full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium to heavy sweet roasted black coffee malty flavor with a medium to heavy sweet and small wood and alcohol finish of moderate to long duration. This is a complex good beer.
