COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This was labeled Sample A for Sam Adams’ 2010 Beer Lover’s Choice Longshot competition.
Sample A, a Belgian-style IPA, is an incredibly complex beer that begins with the fruity, sweet, slightly tart and spicy characteristics of Belgian ale yeast. The blend of malts, including a traditional slow-roasted Czech variety, adds a crisp, slightly roasty note. This is complemented by a combination of German and American hops, which add complex notes of eucalyptus, pine and citrus. The beer finishes with the distinct hop bitterness expected from an IPA, immediately demanding a second sip.

well done and better than expected. the clear cut winner in my book. great body and balance of tropical fruity sweetness, spicy belgian yeast, and piney bittering hops.

(Sample Date: 8/18/2010 Source:Other) Special tasting at Wine and Beer Westpark, Richmond. Floral hops with a spicy yeast character in the aroma. Flavor is similar to aroma with moderate fruitiness. Pretty good.

Bottle sample. Poured clear copper color with an average frothy off-white head that lasted with good lacing. Moderate to heavy earthy and citurs hop aroma. Medium body with a slick texture and soft citrus. Moderate bitter flavor with a moderate bittersweet finish of medium duration. Very good brew.

Pours amber / orange with an off-white head. The aroma has Belgian yeasty fruitiness, stone fruits, spicy hops and light funk. It has a medium grainy body with frothy semi-sharp carbonation. The flavor has lightly toasted malt, less fruit than the aroma and spicy hops. The finish adds earthy piny hops and a bit of yeastiness. Decent beer.

Had this while camping at BCTC this year. Pours a clear gold and light brown amber gold with a thin white head. Soft Belgian yeast, light hops and citrus. Yeast and wheat. Gentle long lasting bitterness. Very tasty. Definitely liked this one better than the other one.

12 oz. bottle sampled at the 2010 NFB&WF at Martha Clara Vineyard. Pours a hazy gold with a white head. Pleasant aroma of fruity Belgian yeast along with a bit of banana and some grapefruit hops. The flavor is malt with Belgian yeast up front followed by some moderate hops bitterness at the finish. A solid and enjoyable beer.

I picked this over the American Rye for the 2010 SA beer challenge. Poured a clear gold color with a small white head. Nice floral hop aroma with Belgian yeast aroma. Hoppy flavor gave a nice taste with typical Sam Adams drink ability. Light to medium body. I would buy these.
