11/7/11. 12oz bottle from the Winter mix 12pk. Rich black pour, not quite opaque under the light - ruby edges, with a 2-finger tight, brown head that cuts in half but remains and laces quite a bit in thick layers. Big roasted coffee aroma, a bit acrid, very roasty, with a touch of dark fruitiness. Surprisingly sweet, milk chocolate flavor up front with lingering coffee bitterness. The mouthfeel is really smooth and silky. Not too shabby!

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours very dark brown with a tan head. The aroma has lots of mocha with some toast and a touch of honey. Not as much coffee as I expected. The flavor is more coffee forward with an initial hit of ground coffee, cocoa, and some light toasted/roasted malts. A little too sweet and not enough coffee punch to make this top notch, but still another winner for the winter mix pack.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Aroma- big coffee, dark chocolate, figs, plums, honey, molasses
Appearance- dark brown/light black, thin head
Taste- big coffee upfront, smooth milk chocolate, creaminess, very pleasant
Palate- medium-bodied, decent carbonation
Overall- A nice change of pace for Sam Adams. Definitely a sessionable coffee stout that drinks very smoothly. Well done.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle poured into a Sam Adams pint glass.
Appearance is almost solid black with a very slight ruby when held up to light. Tan head is solid and lacing is good.
Smells strongly of coffee along with some chocolate Almost like a mocha. Delicious.
The taste is very coffee forward along with a subtle chocolate. There is some bitterness in the finish Iím going to assume from the hops although there is no hop taste. This is also a fairly sweet beer though not to the point of being cloying.
I really enjoy this beer. I am a fan of coffee stouts and while the mouthfeel might be a tad bit thin here, the abv is lower than most other coffee stouts so itís to be expected. I will definitely be drinking a lot of these this winter.

Poured from 12oz bottle, pours black with a thick off white head and lacing, aroma is of fresh ground coffee with a hint of chocolate, the flavor has a bitter coffee front end with a chocolate finish, really not that bad at all.
