3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
A very nice deep dark nut brown pour, topped with an incredibly creamy light tan head. Lucious aroma of wheat, caramel, light soy sauce and fresh vegetables. A little bit of toffee in the nose as well. Flavor is strong sweet caramelized malt, backed with pipe tobacco and nuts. Lots of roasted flavors, but not quite to the point of coffee or chocolate, stays more reserved with nuts and light fruit. Palate is average and a little cloyingly sweet and clingy. Yet alcohol makes for a warm and smooth finish. Nothing impressive on the back end, the flavor presents itself fully on the front end.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Did not for a second pick out that this was a schwarzbier, but now that I know it, it makes more sense. Rich, sweet roasted malt aroma. Dark brown in color; nearly opaque. Small, off white head. Excellent lace. Tastes like it smells. A good beer. A little overly sweet. I keep expecting this to be thin and it’s just not. A pretty decent little beer. Once again, appears that the anti-Sam Adams bias is holding down the ratings on this one.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours brownish-red. Malty aroma with caramel notes. Flavor of chocolate and toffee. Nice balance. This beer breaks away from the "averageness" of the other beers from this brewer, and I like it quite a bit.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a deep brown with ruby accents. Has about a 1/2 inch of head that seems to linger. Aroma is chocolate and caramel. The flavor was mostly chocolate. It was pretty sweet in taste. The palate was smooth but not thick like a porter or stout. It was more watery as a schwarzbier should be. A good beer for this brewer. I enjoyed it.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
This beer tastes like a sweet stout. It has a nice mouthfeel with a clean finish. It tastes like Xingu.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a deep reddish brown hue with a two-finger head that stays remarkably well. Aroma consists of sweet chocolate, with hints of caramel and smoke. Flavor follows the nose, and is a little sweeter than I am accustomed to, but I rather enjoyed it. This beer is well-carbonated, and pleasantly coats the mouth. Overall, this was a good specimen from Boston Beer.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Surprisingly good as an overall package. I like my schwarzes a little less sweet (that’s my problem with Xingu) and more bitter and roasty and this fits the bill. Incredible head retention; a huge, billowy, pockmarked ecru head rises easily. The palate aviods some watery carbordiness that I sometimes find. Not refined (too grainy/husky for that) but still a fine example and a easy quaffing beer for a buck a six under what I usually buy. There is more of this in my future.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
bottle-I have actually been wanting to sample this one for quite some time now. This could be the best beer on their lineup! pours a deep amber huge with a sudsy beige head. Chocolate, roasty aroma with notes of mocha, smoke and slightly ashy. flavors are mostly roast and chocolate with lots of burnt notes as well. very nice for SA standards. Long roasty finish with lingering mocha notes. some hops in there in the finish-spicy. I dig this one!

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
Poured a dark color with a medium off white head. Aroma was of toasted malts and a bit of hops. Flavor followed suit with a toasty character and some toffee sweetness and a bit of bittering hops. Medium to thin mouthfeel with good carbonation and little aftertaste.
