This traditional lager is medium in body with a deep roasted character. Its dark color and rich malty flavor come from specially roasted caramel and chocolate malts. This brew is lightly hopped with Noble Bavarian hops for a soft spiciness and a smooth clean finish. Cheers!

Pours almost black, minimal beige head. Scents of caramel, coffee beans, roasted malt... itís aroma is its best feature. Tastes about like you would expect, nothing earth shattering. Malty, roasty, blah, blah, blah. Nice beer.

Pours a dark brown with a tan froathy head. Aroma is nice and roasty and malty with hints of caramel coffee. Flavor is sweet and caramely. Light on the palate with slight hoppy finish. Overall, very pleasing.

Dark copper pour with an initially frothy tan head. Chocolate malt aroma with a bit of vanilla. Nice mouthfeel with a bit of carbonation on the tongue. Medium bodied. Slightly sweet taste with more chocolate and some caramel and coffee. Overall, pretty good for Sam Adams. Pretty drinkable and although itís nothing really spectacular, it is rather tasty and finishes smooth enough to warrant another.

I was extremely disappointed with this one. Poured dark brown, like a cherry cola. Small off white head. Small malt profile, no hops. Nothing to the mouth feel, Kind of watery. tried this hoping for the best...

Light, almost nonexistent aroma - very slightly sweet. Pours a medium, dark black with a hint of red. Thin white head with minimal lacing. Taste is sweet and malty with a noticeable caramel notes. Almost bordering on a porter, with just the right amount of carbonation. Palate is almost syrupy with a thick slide down the back of the tongue. Very drinkable without being too heavy or too sweet. Yum.

Not a bad example of a Schwarzbier. Nothing remarkable, though. A very drinkable beer.

Bottle. Deep mahogany, tan head, clear. A clean roasted carmel malty aroma. Malty rich carmel and malt flavor. Not harsh and very lightly hopped. A nice effort.

Dark just about black body. Roasty caramel aroma. Flavor includes roasty malts and definite notes of coffee and chocolate. Nice and smooth and silky texture and very enjoyable. Nothing too complex here, just a good beer... and its from a macro too.
