2.8 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 Fatehunter (794) - Corbett, Oregon, USA - JUL 13, 2012Poured from a bottle into a tulip glass. Fairly dark, it is a schwarzbier afterall, but light still shines through. A slightly copper hue when it is held up to the light.
Hmm. A medicinal smell. Not pleasant or attractive.
I like the taste for it being a schwarzbier, but only because I usually do not like the sweet maltness of the German schwarzbiers that I have had. This does not have any sweetness to it, which I like.
Very carbonated.
The smell seemed to die off as I drank the glass so it was not as off-putting as the first few drinks were. The carbonation was annoying too. Still, I liked the taste.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Bamsen78 (1038) - Sønderborg, DENMARK - JUN 18, 2013
Bottle. Pours cloudy very dark brown with quickly vanishing tan head. Clear aroma of roasted malt and hops. Bitter, roasty taste of hops and malt with notes of caramel and dark chocolate in the finis. Dry aftertaste. A good Schwarzbier.
3.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 PapaVillum (21) - Valby, DENMARK - JUN 6, 2013
33 cl flaske, 4,9 %, 6. juni 2013.

A - Pours dark brown with ruby high;ights. 2 fingers of tan head slowly sinks leaving behind full sheets of lacing.
S - Sweet dark caramel malts, molasses, hints of chocolate, doughy yeast, very rich aroma.
T - Mirrors the nose with dark caramel, creamy chocolate, nutty yeast, hints of raisins, and prunes, grassy hops lace the sides of the tongue for a light bitterness on the finish.
M - Tight medium carbonation, light to medium body, creamy feel.
Very organized flavors. Rich and robust for just 4.90 ABV! A great session beer anytime of the year. I can’t believe I waited so long to try this.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 DrSilverworm (2962) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - MAY 6, 2013
12oz bottle, from Party Source. Date notcher kind of missed, but it looks like "May 2013" is barely nicked. Very dark brown / red color, still clear. Thin khaki head. Little dots of lace. Medium body. Smooth, more crisp lighter carbonation. Nice chocolate aroma. Toasted malts, some caramel. Earthy, spicy hops. Light sweet, light bitter. Solid schwarzbier.

@ Havregatan. Flaska från Systembolaget (17:-). Mörkbrun, Smakar inte speciellt mycket, eftersmaken är bättre, lite lakrits, kaffe och soja. För lite kolsyra, åtminstone i mitt exemplar.
4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 mjpeterson812 (17) - Ohio, USA - MAY 2, 2013
UPDATED: JUN 1, 2013 Poured from bottle. Large long lasting tan head. Lots of lacing all the way down glass. Aroma is bread, malt, coffee, chocolate, leather, smoke. Black but rich brown when held to light. Very smooth feel on tongue and palate. Taste is good balance of bitter, sweet, roast, smoke. Body is full, almost stout-like. Creamy thick texture. Soft carbonation. Not much of a finish to speak of. Really good and a much appreciated after my last Samuel Adams (Cream Stout) which was a disappointment.
2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 wildbeercat (136) - Tucson, Arizona, USA - APR 21, 2013
12 fl oz / 355mL bottle into a pint glass. Served cold.
Aroma: Roasted malt. Nothing much else really. Pretty mild aroma. Not much going on.
Appearance: Translucent very dark ruby with a creamy/soapy off-white head. Moderate lacing.
Taste: A little milk chocolate, but mostly just some roasty malts. Pretty sweet.
Palate: Medium body, kind of creamy. Flavors linger a little bit, but are quickly gone.
Overall: Maybe it’s my lack of experience with black lagers, but this beer seemed pretty......eh. Average. Nothing offensive at all, but nothing that really declares "Hi, I am Samuel Adams’ Black Lager and here is my CHARACTER!!!". Ok beer, but not really memorable : /
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Desverger (434) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - APR 13, 2013
Bottle from Irma in Copenhagen - Almost Black in colour with a healthy beige head. Strong caramel malts with interesting hop profile which gives a slight spiciness on the palate. Pretty good, almost a Black IPA in taste. Pretty decent.
