COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The blackberries we use in Samuel Adams® Blackberry Witbier are perfect for this brew. They deliver a subtle sweetness that balances the traditional citrus flavors from the witbier. The blackberries used in Samuel Adams Blackberry Witbier are sourced from family farms, located at the foot of the Oregon Trail and Cascade Mountains in Western Oregon, where they have been growing some of the best blackberries in the world for centuries. By bringing the blackberries, orange and coriander together with an appealing malt character and a spiciness from the hops, we’ve brewed a flavorful beer with a smooth finish that’s both sweet and tart. Samuel Adams® Blackberry Witbier is brewed with two-row Harrington and Metcalfe malted barley and generous portions of malted wheat. The malted barley and malted wheat provide the beer with its light body while the coriander and orange give the beer its citrus like aromas. We’ve also added some Oregon Marion blackberries, to give the brew a perfect balance between its subtly sweet and tart flavors.

Something not quite right here. The balckberry smells and tastes vaguely artificial, and the wit part lacks crispness or somethig. Not particularly good.

Not a big fan of this at all. Thin, brackish with an artificial berry flavor. Maybe something for a hot summer day or a chick beer. Meh.

Poured golden with a small, white head. Hoppy aroma with a fruity taste straight away. Not something I will drink again.

Pours a medium pale gold with a fluffy 1 finger eggshell head that has really good retention even leaving a little lacing. Aroma is fresh blackberry, biscuit, subtle fruity ester like notes. Flavor is biscuity, grainy, a little peppery, straw and some crisp floral notes. Finish is berries, a little grainy, and peppery. Would be much nicer with warmer weather.

Bottle. Golden pour. Aromas of some berries, crackers, white bread and a lgerish aroma. And the flavor has a slight berry taste to it but I get more of a lagerish smell than a true smooth wheat beer. I was a bit disappointed with this.

Tallahassee, Fl. - Publix Supermarket - 12 oz bottle - part of a Brewmaster Collection variety pack. Slightly murky, medium golden pour with a tight white head. Aroma of berry jam and some biscuits. Flavor has some of the same subtle berry notes - hard to tell if they are blackberries or not. Nice tartness and a bit of yeastiness to round it out. Hint of cloying in the finish however. Slightly muddled mouthfeel.

From the bottle, this had a really nice butter-biscuit and jam aroma. Once you poured, it had a spritzier, powdery smell and the fruit was much more prominent. Good bottle. Greenish-tinged, almost clear gold. The head settles down to a thin felt lacing. Light bodied, sweet and sharply fruity. I would have thought some-other-kindberry rather than blackberry. A bit peppery on the backend, with a bolt of tangy, perfumy biscuit before it quits. Hmm. Not bad, not great. Gets a little clingy. I like that Sam changes up the mixpack with different stuff, though. Publix, Killearn.

The Blackberry Witbier pours a cloudy gold hue with frothy head. The blackberry flavor dominates and makes the beer very sweet. Coriander and orange peel flavors exist as well. There is some fizziness, but its not heavily carbonated. The finish features mostly sweet berries and some tartness. I would avoid this beer. The other submissions must have been really awful for this to be the winner.

Bottle. Oh my. Im a big fan of BBC, but this beer makes me question such feelings. Aroma of blackberry cough syrup. Flavor of super sweet blackberry and incredibly bland, boring, generic, above all stale-tasting wheat malt. This would be a terrible beer without the blackberry, and the blackberry would make this a terrible beer even if the base beer had any merit to it. I cannot find a good thing to say about this beer, nor about the people who voted for it.

Bottle. Pours a clear light orange with a thick white head. Aroma of sweet cherries (yes cherries) and sweet fruits in general. Flavor of wheat malt with a slightly sweet/juice-like finish (a surprise given the aroma). Kind of bland actually. No spice presence that I can detect. This is one of those fruit beers that tastes like juice. Not a fan. This won a contest?????????
