Cask: Special - JD Wergerspoon festival, Autumn 2010.
Bert Boyce and Dan Melideo, from Sam Adams Brewery, have travelled to Shepherd Neame Brewery, in Kent, to create this beer especially for this Wetherspoon real-ale festival. This very pale beer incorporates American intensity and English balance, showcasing East Kent-grown American Cascade hops – picked fresh from the field and in the brewery in a matter of hours. The result is an intense (yet soft) hop impression, moderate bitterness and fruity, complex character.

Cask at Coachmakers, Hanley. Pours golden with white head. Quite a malt led golden ale, pleasant hop finish. OK.

Cask. Not at wetherspoons so it must have been successful enough to brew on a wider scale. Clear gold with a thick light tan head. Nose is grapefruit and lemon. Taste is zingy. Really bitter lemon. Some lime. A little watery and could do with a bit more balance. Just zingzingzing.

Oh SJ, you never cease to amaze me. Golden pour with a spice and fruit Aroma (Mostly peach). A straw, bread and spice flavor that is accompanied by some hop and fruit. Interesting.

Cask at the Central Bar JDW, London. Clear yellow pour with a fimy head. Bready malt nose. Lightly sweet wih gingerbread and dry, grassy hops. Light in body with fine carbonation. Very dry, grassy finish with strong, lingering gingerbread notes. Nice beer.

Cask-conditioned at the Commercial Rooms, Bristol 10/11/10. Amber coloured with a small white head. Light citrus hop aroma with some sweet malts. Flavour had some more citrus fruit and a dryish finish. Not a lot going on given the ABV%.

From cask at Benjamin Huntsman, Sheffield. Pours slight cloudy (wasn’t quite settled in when I asked for it - so I assume it should have been clear). Aroma is peachy and citrusy fruity. Mild mango fruity and peachy flavoured. Mild bitterness and crisp citrus hoppy. Lingering fruity and crisp hoppy into the finish.

Cask Conditioned Gravity Dispense Eastgate Northampton. A clear orange coloured beer with a tiny off-white ring of head. There is a little citrus in the nose but it’s quite faint. Better in the mouth but not Earth shattering. There is decent citrus and some sweet malts and gloopy alcohol.
